overclocking is basically the same as upgrading without spending anything. hehehe!
Actually in my experience OC'ing still i think cost you more by the way we can't just O'C for ordinary cheap mobo, or cpu or even a psu and mems, it actually uses at least mid to high end to satisfy the oc'ing needs.
Still it depends how the users needs. tho oc'ing is more for enthusiast also means more cost on it.
we overclock because it is our passion. Passion + curiosity. It's is our hobby, our pastime.
Some people love to read, some love to sing, dance. Some collect stuff. Some play sports. Some make models. Some do painting. Some mod cases. Some collect cars. Others restore old cars. There is someone doing something that they are passionate about - WE OC'ers overclock and tweak our PCs.
Also to add:
not all gamers are overclockers.
not all overclockers are avid gamers.
overclockers can be modders.
some overclockers buy expensive stuff just to test how far they can push it until said hardware is destroyed.

IMO, its not the OCing that kills, its the heat. Even at stock speeds, kung init imo components because of poor airflow and lack of maintenance, dead gihapon.
i tend to agree and tend to disagree..kasagaran cpu kron kay ma off lng dretso f maabot na sa iya safe limit sa heat..mao safe ra..most cpus kron, it's not the heat that kills it, it's the voltage..
