I couldn't agree more. Curiosity is not key to one's conversion. It may help though, greatly.

You are basically right. But there are others who feel that by transferring to another religion they can surround themselves with people who are quiet more spiritual which is what he might really need at that particular moment. He may have some problems and is feeling discouraged. Having a more spiritual environment than what he experiences from his current church might help.

I know a lot of people who have experienced this. I can't blame them; in fact as I've witnessed this has helped them.

But still like I said one's conversion must be rooted on knowledge of what is true. And truth must be seeked sincerely.

+ cguro, I think that's the difference to other religions na daghan mag transfer na tao 'coz they are active to church and other stuffs... in Catholic, you are free as you want, you don't need to pay or push to attend to the mass, it's the matter of having freedom in the religion. Cguro that's the reason people transfer to other religion, but as what I've said earlier, naa ra sa imoha, on how you handle your religion... I'm just so pissed man gud to other people because ilang ga apil2x ang word na "faith" and "closer to God" as their reason ngano ni balhin cla.

I think for my own opinion --- people who transfer to other religion has NO FAITH at all (dba?! if e connect2x nimo, they transfer to other religion to strengthen their faith or to find faith?!)! for me, the word "faith" is a really big something to myself, dili nimo cya ma explain basta2x, it's like Faith is the thing to believe in God. if you don't have faith, you don't believe in God.

other explanation that I have : My boyfriend said that it's because "beliefs"
but if your goin' to explain about beliefs. I know, every religion has different beliefs... but first of all, if you don't have faith in your own religion and in your own God, you don't believe in their beliefs... you area a weak person... we have the same God, the same stories, but different lang pagka sulti, same everything... i just don't get it why they need to transfer, nagpa ila ka lang na u don't believe in God first of all.
What I can say is, it is each person's responsibility to seek the truth. We should not believe just because we were told to believe. We must be critical thinkers and ask - 'Why am I attending this church now?' God has given wisdom and He expects us to use it.

after all the discussion that I've written in here, and to him, he has still the point to explain to me the other side why people transfer to other religion.

    - hindi maganda ang structure ng pagkaturo sa kanila kapag ganon
    - kulang sa pangaral
    - hindi ayos ang foundation
    - kaya maraming naliligaw ng landas (ka dum2x lang ko sa LDS Website, about the ad of the "Purpose of life" lol)
    - we can't blame them

After all, I think the problem is all about the "structure". People are People, they believe on what others say. you can't tie them on what you want nor push them what you want.

sorry. taas kaau akong opinion. Hehehe...
Ok lang. Dako-dako pa man ug space ang database sa istorya.

There are varied reasons why people change religious affiliations. Your boyfriend has cited good ones. Reasons vary because human beings are varied.

    Exactly.

about that, do you also need to pay every month to the church like other religion?! kay grabeh baya kaayo ka nice ang church, dba ang lain religion like INC, they need to pay something %, and that money will be heading to build another church, is it thesame with you guys?! 'coz nice man jud gud pagka design sa mga temples, morag mahal jud ang gasto ba to build one. or they get it from donations and etc.?!
We believe and practice the Law of Tithing. I think cromagnon has already explained above what it is. Anyway, it is giving one-tenth (hence the word 'tithe') of your income to the church. Why? - nothing more than it is a commandment of God. This has been practiced since the Old Testament. Where does the money go? - it supports the operation of the church in functions like:
    1. Missionary work
    2. Temple constructions, operation, and maintenance
    3. Family history
    4. Printing and publishing of church literature (most if not all of books & pamphlets are given free to the public and not sold)
    5. Church activities (mentioned by cromagnon above)
    6. Welfare program
    7. Donations and support during calamities
    8. etc... daghan pa, can't remember all

We have 'unpaid clergy' though - which means our clergy e.g. Bishops, Stake Presidents, Elder's Quorum Presidents, etc... are not paid salaries. They are called and they render service to the church of their own accord. They or most of them also have daytime jobs.

But for other clergies who devote all their time to their calling like Area Presidents, Mission Presidents, Quorum of the Twelve, etc... don't have time left for daytime jobs because of their duties and responsibilities that comes with their calling, have 'allowances' to support them financially.

No. It is a goal though for every faithful member of the church to be married in the temple and be with his/her loved one forever. But again, the church lets each member decide for himself on what to do. In this case, one can always marry outside the temple. It is up to him. But the it should be considered that the temple has been provided for us to attain the blessings of Eternal Marriage.

Financial reasons is very understandable and is usually the hindrance despite of a couple's desire to be married in the temple. The church can help financially if they really don't have any money and at the discretion of their Bishop.

That problem has also been considered by the church since before. That's why the church keeps building temples all over the world. Cebu temple is being constructed for example.

I mean, morag tour bah, kay curious kaayo ko. I would like to hear more explanations about LDS in terms of the structural of the temples. -- I am an open minded person... Curiosity is the beginning of the knowledge. Hehehe...
Yes you may always visit our temples. You can enter only in the waiting hall though. What's inside (I think I've already mentioned) are rooms to perform ordinances where only members of the church who are worthy can enter.

Baptism for the dead means baptism for those who are already dead. You see, when we die, our spirits go to a certain place, termed as the Spirit World, to wait for the time when Jesus Christ comes to earth again and all the dead will be resurrected.

Baptism for the dead would mean to baptize here on earth the souls of those who are in the Spirit world. Of course dili kawtun ilang lawas sa yuta and dad-on sa temple. That would be horrible. Instead this ordinance is done through a 'proxy'. A member of the church, more preferably a relative, can stand as proxy and be baptized in behalf of the person who is already dead.

For lack of time, I will not dive into more details for this one. Maybe on some other post later. But this ordinance is related to Family History, and is very important.

The local chapels serve as a meeting place for members to observe and partake of the Sacrament (comparable to the Catholic mass). It is also a place for members to learn, during Sunday school, the gospel of Jesus Christ. It also serves as a place to perform basic ordinances such sa baptism & ordination. And like sa imo first question why naay mga basketball court, it also serves as a place for people to fellowship and strengthen each other - not only through basketball though, but also through other activities.

I believe I've already posted to answer this. But anyway, 'higher ordinances' such as Temple Marriage, Baptism for the Dead, Endowment, Family Sealing, can only be done in temples and not in local chapels.

    ---

Hope this somehow answered your questions above.
