For Cuba (as a communist/socialist country), it's not affected in a way as it is not also heavily dependent on exports since the trade embargo.

The worst in recent economic history of Cuba was the Special Period (sometime in the 90s) but so much was learned from it that Cuba is perhaps the only country today that can withstand on any global crisis. Cubans are as resilient as ever since then and have come to know how to beat a crisis. So, bisag magcrisis pa asa dapit sa kalibutan, Cubans can supply their own food right from their very own backyards (thru permaculture) tungod atong Special Period. Btw, in spite of the Special Period, Cuba remains one of the most lettered countries in the world with the most professionals per square kilometer. Bisag hangtod karon, it is still a country with very high literacy.

    Sakto gyud.

As far as I know Cuba and North Korea ra ang communist. North Korea even before pa ang crisis. Ang mga pagkaon kay gikan sa mga kontra niya (i.e. Japan, South Korea, and USA).

Ang China, Vietnam murag dili na.

No, communist countries are not affected by the global contagion kay every year man na sila economic crisis.

China is communist only in name. Capitalistang daku na na sila (mapugngan ba ang pakanegosyante sa Intsik? ). Vietnam is also fast moving away from hardcore communism.
