I apologize for the wait for the outline.. nabusy jud ko lately..
leaving on a jetplane soon gud.. but ill still be around until july 27/28.. and july 25 man ang seminar..
anyway, here is a rough-outline i've come up for the past two days.. i didn't want to make it haphazard outline.. i asked some of my colleagues also what would be nice for a "crash course" on databases..
please insert and add things you want to be discussed so that i can adjust my presentation materials appropriately on what you want to learn... after all, this is for you guys who mentioned you'd be interested in learning.. i'm just here to share my knowledge (char! in memory of tugak the great!

1. Introduction to Databases
- History
- Applications/Place in the information Age
- Contrast with other sources of information (heirarchical and network database)
- Personal accounts (experience sharing)
2. Relational Database Management System
- Current Available Software being used (open source and commercial, summary of differences between each that will be useful to you, as far as I know)
- Jump right into Short tutorial on installation and setup, with back-references to section 1, so that you'll know where the concepts in section 1 connects with this part
- This also includes a little overview of database connections, ports, networking, etc
- Definitions of terminologies used - straight-forward na ni
- Data implementations behind the scenes (for C and C++ programmers, linked-lists, pointers, trees, etc)
- Client and Server Model
- Web Model (3-tier model, Model–view–controller model)
- Requirements for RDBMS (more concepts, and back references to previous sections)
3. SQL
- DDL and DML
- Data types
- Security thru SQL
- Joins
- Functions, aggregates (group by, having)
- Optimizations via indexes and keys
- Transaction-SQL
4. Database Modelling
- Current software (used for database modelling)
- Diagrams
- Normalizations

Murag gina-compress jud ni tanan.. database is a 2-semester subject in college, but im sure some or most of you have had a course on it already.. this will be a supplementary, and i'll make sure you learn something new always na wala ma-cover sa 2-semesters in college. a lot in the industry is not found in academic, sad to say..
