hi to all..im a newbie here.. naa ko'y res 2 kabuok..juveniles pa siguro ni sila..2" pa man ila length..ask lang ko basic questions..i know na-tubag na ni sa previous posts pero kapoi trace back kay taas na kaayoo..hehe..

    1. i've read na res needs 10G of space per inch of carapace length. My 2 res are on a 10G plastic container with filter, basking area, etc..sa gawas ni nako gibutang pero shaded part for most of the day except early morning..i partially replaced the water every day..my question is, can they survive for a year or two? i'm planning to build a little pond man jud if mahuman na amo housing unit na gikuha..pero dugay2x pa'to kay wala pa gi-construct so naglisod jud ko pangita space for my turts kay nag-abang rako balay..

    2. pila na flowrate dapat ako paliton na filter given the above description of my turt's habitat..

RES are quite hardy terrapins and would likely survive even without filtered water but a good supply of clean water would likely do. Regarding your inquiry about malayan snails, they are quite common around pero i prefer not to feed it to the turts kay they are pointed and might injure your terrapin in the process. They are scavengers in general so minced fish would be highly relished. RES labi na kung gagmay pa dont usually bite each other and rarely do find aggression but a bigger basking space would also be nice to give your turts some option as to where to bask. Basking is also essential for turtles or reptiles in general as they need it to prevent osteomalacia or rickets(adults) or rather a Vit D. defficiency. Being able to bask also catalyzes their growth.

Its rather unhealthy to keep them in that condition for even a year, a couple of months would be the longest. Apple snails are good kay humok as compared to the malayan snails ang shell but like as i do, i crush the snails first.
