Technically, it's a valid move. They made a big deal out of it coz of Shaq not making his freebies; but if you really think about it, this tactic would not have succeeded if the Big Diesel just made even 80% of his shots.

So yes; as long as players are not able to make their shots, this will always be used. It's also worthy to note that some coaches employ this to other low-FT-% shooters in the opposing team. In fact, this was used on our very own Bruce Bowen and Tim Duncan. That's why in end game situations, it's ALWAYS Manu who gets the inbounds pass.

Oh Yeah! I really dont agree about what the commentators are saying. If there is something they need to change, its not the system of fouling far from the ball, IT IS HOW THE PLAYERS SHOOT THEIR FREETHROWS.

Like one said. This wouldnt be an effective tactic if only Shaq and the other players hits their freethrows.

hack-a-shaq move. .hmmmmmmmmm. . uhm for me lng ha ! its a lame excuse man coz u know. ang game ky boring na kaau. imagine 1st-4th half of those per quarters is freethrows ne shaq. .thats boring i think. . can spurs play good D on shaq?? com'on Greg. .lets play defense and not doin cheap fouls.. hehe. .

So it's a lame excuse because it's boring for fans like you? Nice logic.

That video link is 14 days late; but thanks bro. Glad you recognized what our "Teddy Blair" can potentially do in this league.

Giyano ra man ni Blair ang defense ni Thabeet. 6'7" against a 7'3" giant. whew!

hahahahhaha and its not possible nga i-foul si shaq katunga sa quarter sa upat ka quarter... mas reasonable kung fourth quarter kay end game nah.. pero sugod pa gani. ayaw nalang pag practice ug defense foul nalang permi hahahaha

Like we just said (tacki and I), dont blame the "hack-a-shaq" strategy to cause the "boredom". You should blame it on whoever player that is vulnerable to this strategy due to BAD freethrow shooting. The "Hack-a-Shaq" has been EFFECTIVE due to these kinds of players. If there werent any players in the league who sucks in the Freethrow line, this strategy wouldnt exist in the first place. If Shaq just makes his freethrows, this strat is useless.

Parehas rana sa gi-ingon. Walay mangingilad kung way magpailad.
