    Aack! Ngano na-apil man ako pangan diri? To set the records straight, I'm not an erotic artist just a hobbyist who swipes photos of nude women and manipulates them to look like paintings using Photoshop.

    Samples of work (censored here of course)

    @inahime

    don't publish your work yourself. get a publisher to do that for you, pimp your stuff to image comics, etc...

    I hope Cebuano manga-kas come too. Besides the three books, eight action figures are also at stake. So join na and meet new friends!

    Happening today at 1 pm in Gilligan's Ayala Terraces!

    Wow, that was a mouthful... again.
    I'd have said insightful but if there is one thing I won't stand for it's giving up before a battle actually begins. But thanks, 'sis' for that ominous counsel. I'll keep that in mind.

    @zerk and @cmontoya
    Thanks for the invite and pointing me in the right direction. We'll try to drop by Ayala today when I can as I have a busy day ahead of me.

    ah, oops... what he said. I got a little carried away. hihi~

    yeah, you can create a group, but keeping it together would prove quite the challenge. I find that some people need an incentive so that they'd stick around. Not that there's anything wrong with being pragmatic, though...

    it's rather difficult to compare the music sence with the comic book scene. the music scene covers a very broad demographic, it's just no comparison. there's huge support for bands here in cebu, while the comic book scene has relatively very little attention paid to it. even horrible bands get to play at major events while visual artists have to be really good to get noticed.

    maybe that's the main thing. starting a group may be okay, keeping it together is the challenge. sa banda, pwede mo mo tukar sa mga grill, sa larsian, etc. but with comics, kuwang ta ug suporta. that's probably why people give up.

    let's face it: the comic book industry doesn't have a huge market. it's a very specific one. lisod ni pangwartaan. unlike japan where adults read manga like any other book and where it makes up a third of the total books published annualy, negative man ang tan-aw sa mga tao sa comics diri. most would think that comics are for kids, people who read them are geeks and nerds., etc.

    struggle gyud ang paghimo ug comics diri, and bilib ko sa mga local artists who can really perform. you guys should be proud of yourselves.

    @zerk
    Thanks for the suggestion!

    hmmm. didnt realize that there is a GOOD conversation about comics here. coincidentally, we are planning to do a seminar to move the craft a gear higher up. hope you guys can attend.

    Lightbulb Uhmmm... Ok. Nice. Except for the Seminar Fee < (o_O) >

    Glad to know that this thread is still being perused and pursued. Thanks guys and gals for expressing and sharing your various views on this annoying topic.

    @SUEDE: Forgive me for pointing this out but your entrance fee is still quite 'sakit sa bulsa' even for us idiots, noobs and budding local artists. Do you think you could lower it a bit pa? Like 300 or at best, 500 pesos. Why is it set at 1,500 pesos to begin with anyway?

    I'm sure some people here would like to know the breakdown of that amount.

    Looking forward to hearing from you regarding this matter soon.
