Knicks To Meet With Kidd On Wednesday

The Knicks plan to meet with free-agent point guard Jason Kidd on Wednesday.

Kidd is scheduled to meet with New York president Donnie Walsh and coach Mike D'Antoni early Wednesday, according to a league source.

He is expected to talk with the Mavericks before meeting with the Knicks in order to give them the first chance to re-sign him.

The Knicks could offer Kidd their mid-level exception, or work a sign-and-trade with Dallas.

Daghana na mag-ilog sa mga big men sa FA. I'm expecting Rockets to be very aggressive in pursuing a big man in FA after what happened to Yao. Mcdyess or Sheed would be on top of their radar.

Signing either or both would be highly unlikely. Both men are too old to try their luck in a team who has no clear shot at winning the title next season. Houston just lost their best player for the season, their no. 2 guy might not be a star anymore, and their no. 3 guy is one of the biggest chuckers in the NBA. It's basically a team full of role players. Now why would they want to play for a team like that?

Breaking News: Pistons Fire Michael Curry

The Pistons began the season with big hopes but couldn't recover from the loss of All-Star point guard Chauncey Billups in a November trade to Denver for Allen Iverson.

The Pistons went 39-43 and exited the postseason in four lopsided losses to the Cleveland Cavaliers. Joe Dumars, the team's president for basketball operations, said after that series that Curry would return.

"This was a difficult decision to make," Dumars said in a statement Tuesday. "I want to thank Michael for his hard work and dedication to the organization. However, at this time, I have decided to make a change."

Dumars fired coach Flip Saunders last year after he led the team to the Eastern Conference finals in each of his three seasons. Curry was an assistant under Saunders for one season.

A message left on Curry's cell phone was not immediately returned.
