grave007 for ? hehehe no offense ha
Speaking of graft and corruption.. I think we all learned that from school.. One example:
How many pirated softwares you own? How many time you cheated at school? How many times we cheated our parents during exams/tuition fees. I think... we are corrupt in nature... and don't blame the politicians.. because one of these days.. you'll be one of them...
bai ngano man lagi nang china, korea, singapore, hongkong ug uban pa diha...naa man lagi sila mga pirated softwares, nya ayaw ko ingna na di na cla mang cheat? ang ato ngari bai kung naka sulay ka ug ad2 anang mga government establishment di na sila molihug ug dali2x kong way "under the table" sama anang BIR sos kung mo tinu-od pana sila ug kolekta sa buhis anang mga negosyante sos arang-arang unta ta karon...ang kaning naa sa CUSTOM wa ka kasulay ani nila no? suwayi nya bai..maka ingon ka ug grabeh...

my point --> it does not necessarily follow that honest hardwork is a guarantee for u to rise from the ashes. no matter how much u sacrifice all in the name of honesty and such noble intentions, if the society that one belongs to cannot accomodate for this person's hardwork, then it is basically useless.
many would rather 'go with the flow' because, as they say, 'mao nay naandan' and turn a blind eye to the underhanded machinations that many of us do in order to rise above the filth... even at the sacrifice of others. we only condemn it when the rest of the status quo does.
and of course, the status quo dictates the course of the pevailing mentality... the very same status quo that is dominated itself by the affluent few. we know very well who constitutes this and it would be laughable notion to think that these people really did play honest. to think that there are quite a lot of people who has not risen to such heights yet employed the very same tactics they used... the only difference was that they were overun by the discriminating eye of public opinion and scrutiny.
we should never see things in a bifurcated manner as it does not leave us any space to see the difference in each and every case. stereotypes are present, yes. but we should know that they arise out of the lack of knowledge and sufficient information leading one to jump to conclusion resulting to these stereotypes. for us to play with them is for us to admit that these are real. though it is undeniable that they posses a certain grain of truth in them, but it has been twisted and in countless times in the past, had lead to discrimination and misunderstanding resulting from inaccurate and inappropriate labels that a group of people apply to the members of another.
for us to understand why these stereotypes of 'being rich' or 'being poor' anbd such ever came to be, we should first see the situation from which it arose from. we should not just accept the stereotype as it is, we should try and abolish it.

The rich are smart, uses that abililty to get power and eventually gets richer. The poor gets nothing even education, gets more ignorant , makes more children and spreads more poverty to our homeland. how sad but true
but is there anything that the rich people can do about it?
a socio-political concept that we must be aware of
False Conciousness - in ability of non-elite groups to percieve their own interests w/in society. economically powerful groups manipulate the cultural values, religion and media to maintain their priviledged status. these institutions convince the politically and economically powerless that they are responsible for their own deprivations. thus they never realize that their situation is due to an unequal and unjust system that primarily benefits the wealthy and powerful.
i think this best explains the current opinion of the middle class about the rich and the poor.

Poor gets poorer? rich gets richer? why?
most of these "poor" people... wala man sad paki sa ila kinabuhi... their right motto is this: "mao ra man gyud ni atoa, wala na ta'y mabuhat"... once they get sweldo or income... totally hurot ug gasto!!! its like a "one day millionaire"...
rich? hmm.. some are rich but look poor... simple living... thats why they get rich... most rich people Value Money... and always look forward to the future... thats why rich gets richer...
but most of these rich people... came from poor... they became rich because of their being industrious and self confidence... advanced ang paghunahuna ba...
some poor also got rich because of stolen wealth... maru and mangingilad... but these kind of people... are the same RICH people, that in the future... matagak ra pud... back to step 1...
mo tu-o gyud ko ug gaba...
