both have pros and cons. and both cams are also good. what a good friend advises me is that, choose the brand which is more common to your fotog circle. that case you can exchange gadgets. and it really worked for me...no regrets...i've got d60.

but as what my brothers frend said.. ang nikon daw barato ra ang lense though ang service center ngihit.. on canons side sad kai mahal xa og lense thn ang service center kai available gyud then one thing sa canon maau sad xa sa newbie.. but if hobby gyud nmo ang photography i think dili nana mo matter cguro!bsta u know the techniques....ahehehe

both cameras handle iso impressively, get the 1000d. its more feature packed. although d60 handles texture noise below d40. d60, unlike with 1000d, has no motor built-in the body that gives auto focus on older lenses.

ergonomics also are significant specially when shooting for quite a time. try to hold both in actual in the store.
