i never thought Elvis Costello was associated with punk and new wave back in the 70s. I was introduced to him through the album King of America which has a country-folk feel..
His new album now Secret Profane and Sugarcane belongs to the folk-country/americana category... Far from what he was known for. But i did see the video where Beastie Boys served as his back-up band singing Radio Radio. I think it was on Saturday Night Live. (for those who only know Beastie Boys as rap vocal group, they are also instrumentalist. Started out as a punk/hardcore and up thill today they still play their instruments live on stage)
He was also featured on Fall Out Boy's new album...

elvis costello is a god...a brilliant musician...im a huge beastie fan. before sila nag hip-hop punk/hc band gyud na sila(the young and the useless). the album ill communication and check your head kay naay mga track didto nga punk/hc gyud ang tono and of course sila pud ang instrumentalist...the best!

Elvis Costello has been one of my favorites for years. His first 12 albums are great, after that it's been hit and miss. My favorites has got to be the first 12 albums and Painted from Memory. Seems like he changes genre on every album. I wasn't too crazy about his country phase or his classical phase. But he's at his best at punk/new wave, jazz and pop.
