Which brings us to the third question for this thread (and it's quite a simple one at that, because it's related to the diagrams I just recently posted, re the shuttle's ever increasing elliptical orbit):

Starting with this image, how then, does the shuttle return to earth?

The hints are already scattered all over the thread, but the most recent illustrations will help a great deal at answering the question.

ang speed sa satellite kay iadjust so that it falls to earth at the rate faster than that of the curve of the earth falls away from the satellite.

Do a retrograde burn - shuttle to turn 180deg and fire engine till the right velocity(smaller from the initial V) is achieve so that the trajectory will take you to earth's surface(smaller ellipse now as a result), then shuttle turns around again for re-entry sa atmosphere, and air resistance will do the rest. Since mo glide ra man ang shuttle towards its landing area, kailangan naka plot na ang trajectory to the landing area..

Hey rodz, though i answered some, i still have a lot to learn! please continue to teach! thanks!

Correct answer. I'll post a diagram of your explanation later

Great find ethz Basically, reading that link and absorbing it well, will enable anyone to answer the three questions I posted with relative ease.

ah..so ang shuttle ang mg adjust ug orbit?so lower xa una para maka apas xa den..change napud ang orbit?
