i dont know how to play killer of giants. i know you know this riff man. i think jake has more style than rhoads. both are amazing guitar players in a manner of speaking. i remember now, it has something to do with dana strum recomendation for jake. i like slaughter too. stick it ya and wildlife. though mark sounds like cross over to voice of vince neil and stephen pearcy. wel also save this band for the next thread, that if you are also a follower to them.
forget bout that cutting crew jake lee application. anyways secret loser got its own style even it sounds very pop/glam. same with thank god for the bomb. i got this crazy idea that what if bands of today will have a cover of the album bark or ultimate. no matter what gadgets they will be using, i think it would be sloppy if another guiatarist will do it. but with royalties to ozzy and jake is concern, we could say its all about the money.
nice history of ratt here. i think i remember in my circus mag mickey ratt but never heared their music. i want to ask bout this band also from my circus mag.. keel and ded engine.. what they got man..

murag mas advance man gd c jake compare ky randy rhoads..pero ambot lang if wa namatay c rhoads...i dont know maybe he'll be much better than before...anyway, they're both good guitarists...

i agree : jake e. lee seemingly has more guitar playing balls than rhoad, that's basing on the songs the 2 have done so far...of course rhoads fans tend to speculate that had randy not died he would have become a git virtuoso by now, but then it's easy to speculate...

in introspect, rhoads & lee's style are in many ways similar...rhoads had a knack of playing exotic riffs with classical inclinations...& lee had this too (at least with his work with ozzy)...but 1 might find reason in that lee somehow had to squeeze into randy's persona to make the transition from his predecesor's style to his own as smooth & as intangible as possible...for the sake of the fans &, of course, the marketability of the band...

whereas if 1 would listen to lee's style in badlands, 1 can be definitely sure that the hidden & main facet of jake e. lee's musical style is so deeply rooted in blues (which 1 could have never guessed by listening to lee's ozzy material)...

i was a big fan of jake in his glory days with ozzy...but i am now an even bigger fan of his with his work on badlands...badland songs are so raw & raunchy, stripped down even...but exude so much power & pure blues energy...truly blues metal, if i were to pin a name on it...

so for those who haven't yet heard lee's work on badlands, do find a way to get your hands on a copy & find out for yourselves the real jake e. lee, just being himself & not trying to fit into someone elses shoes...ride...ride...silver horses...ride...ride...like the wind...hehe...

keel : that don dokken look-a-like...hehe...i had only 1 album by keel - 'the right to rock'...i remember these generic glam metal bands sprouting up from everywhere back then (cinderella's another 1 of them)...yeah, all those pics in circus of rockers in leather, lace, & spandex...their made up faces & their tossed up hair...yup, there were lots of them, & they all looked alike...

keel was on my cassette playlist for a while, but they never really clung on to me...cinderella made a bigger impact with me, & it took longer for me to grow tired of listening to tom keifer than it did for me to forget ron keel (sorry ron...hehe...)...

i'm not familiar with ded engine...though i remember having seen a picture of the band once in a write-up about them in circus amongst an army of similar looking & similarly clad heavy metal groups that have long left my memory...

trivia : the black & white strat that evh is seen holding up in the cover of vh's debut album is a charvel...

yes robotman if randy was still with us, there will be very huge difference. no words can describe what would it sound like, with respect to his playing style of course. lets put some little comparison here.. jake is better than randy by a fraction only but glen tipton has got more balls. right now im saying this because im listening to defenders of the faith... in the dead of the night, love bites love bites.
back to jake now. i like his riff always going upwards, downwards. that riff in bark at the moon. although randy has this kind of playing too. you can hear it on over the mountain, flying high again. too bad i had not listened to badlands. i will have it download. but im familiar with that group since. yes bro it was a charvel guitar on van halen debut album. really dig that album man. there was a conversation on why eruption was the second track. eddie simply reacted that eruption was not supposed to be on that album. it was just like a signature riff or something like that. but do you know eruption was just done in one take. but i remember when i was high school, eruption was after atomic punk. anyways that was just a tape bought at 45 pesos. the dolby type. yes bro its been that long. few thoughts just coming to my mind now. ron keel was that dude dokken look a like. everybody was using spandex or aqua net. also those cinderella guys, got long cold winter from them. but lately i find their music pop. this ded engine guys their album was at the back of the circus mag. i tried to find an album of them everytime i go to the city but never find one. ded engine caught my attention because of their black suits and wrist bands like rob halford used to wear. but albums easily found on record bars during those years was kiss, iron maiden, motley crue, ratt, twisted sister acdc and more. got another question her e for you my man, what about this autograph and wasp. does this guys have balls too..attractive pose in circus mag bringing with themselves lethal weapon and chains..

i strongly suggest that you get a copy of badlands' debut & 2nd album (voodoo highway) bro...i'm most certain that you'll find jake e. lee an even greater guitarist & musician than you ever thought he was...hehe...he's probably the most underrated rock guitarist of all time...check it out...

apparently you're referring to rhoads & jake e.'s prominent use of alternate picking (up-down-up-down) to create that distinct buzzsaw attack (bark at the moon riff) that jake e.'s well known for...that's 1 cycle or 2 strokes per note, & lee uses this style unsparingly both in bark & sin...& so did rhoads (ie: crazy train)...

1 thing i can promise though - if you think jake e. was cool with ozzy...wait till you hear him in action in badlands...in badlands lee was able to express himself more freely without anyone telling him how to do things & how to sound resulting in a true & untainted musicality & sound, yet full of blistering fretwork & guitar savvy enough to fill any rocker's dreampot...

you're probably right bro, in a way eruption was an unintentional track, or so to speak...from what i know, during the vh1 sessions eddie would often come early & do warmup excercises...part of his exercise routine involved playing a favorite piece he'd cooked up over & over again...this particular piece was what became eruption in vh1...ted templeman had started to notice the potential of the killer piece & asked eddie run it down 1 more time...then he recorded eddie's routine &, whalla!! eruption was born...

i think tom keifer & the rest of the guys in cinderella are cool & talented...i have 4 of their albums...nightsongs & heartbreak station stand out as their definitive albums, & where their playing & song writing capabilities were at their peak...it took sometime for me to take heartbreak station off my playlist...

i have 2 albums of autograph - sign in pls & that's the stuff (i bought my lp of this 1 in fairmart)...turn up the radio is probably their greatest single...when this song got airplay way back when we were in college, i just couldn't resist the urge to learn it 7 that brilliantly composed solo...steve lynch is just crazy with his left & right hand hammer ons & pull offs...he went way overboard with it in that's the stuff...pure loco...

wasp is possibly the earliest predecessor of shock rock (of course there was cooper)...blackie lawless is one hell of a showman...& his blood splatter & flesh-eating antics certainly carved him & his band a prominent notch in metal history...i had a tape of 1 of his albums once (i forgot which album was that)...& saw a video of him at his prime back then in a friend's house...there's a thing he does where he spins his long jetblack hair around & around...& how i kept wondering if his head would ever come off his neck...hehe...he was so grotesque, but effective...unforgettable band, remarkable frontman...though there wasn't much to draw from chris holmes' guitar playing...(oh, i also got their live at the key club dvd)...

i will try to download your recomended badlands. anything you recommend is cool. though ive heard that name before but nobody from my buddies told me that this band kick balls. ive seen wasp before. wasp means we are sexual perverts. i just ignored this group coz i thought their just following kiss and twisted sister. blackie lawless was also that blood-background guy.. believe it or not man this is the first time ive heared shock rock. sounds iconic, i got this from you man. alice cooper is the original shock rock i guess coz hes been in the rock scene back in the time. even before the arrival of kiss in 1974. take time to watch wayne's world..feed my frankenstein of alice has pure showmanship. .. autograph was in the back cover of circus mag promoting their album i recall now thats the stuff yet never also heared from them. but those looks were like promoters of hair gel or more specific spandex just like ded engine. also during these, bands were performing at whiskey a go go. they dont need to have lots of talents to have a contract from record companies. as long as they sound crowd-favorite thats just it..welcome to the rock scene.. i wonder if you still got your countless Lps or tapes man. just try to keep them no matter how dusty. hey there was also this triumph..

unfortunately, i sold my precious rock lp collection a long time ago while still in college to buy my 1st dimarzio from salonga...sob...but i still have my cassette tape collection...i placed them in 1 big box to keep away the dust...so they're all there sleeping, with cases still shiny, & their covers as fresh as the day i bought them...hehe...

looking back, i really regretted having sold my lps (i even went through the hassle of putting plastic covers on the sleeves, & was extra carefull not to leave any scratches on the vinyl) ...all that's left is the vh 1 album & sabbath's born again album...back then an lp cost only p25 in fairmart & rosita's colon...oh well...sob...

i'm not familiar with the canadian superband triumph, but i heard of them & rick emmet - who had a guitar clinic column in guitar player way back then...but i do have the 'a night of triumph live' dvd...real sesoned pro musicians...but not an influence of mine...

stryper is 1 great band we seem to have forgotten...to hell with the devil...
