You can only "lalis" in a truly scientific manner if:

a) There is enough evidence floating around for a practical application of the said concept and

b) People participating in the thread knows the subject matter to a high technical degree, enough to merit plausible ideas and thesis on the subject matter.

Most people in this thread cannot even understand basic celestial/orbital mechanics and THEN mag-istorya dayon about relativity, time-travel and the like.

The result? A term coined in computer science and info. tech. circles... G.I.G.O. = Garbage in, garbage out.

My point is, discussions involving little knowledge in a subject matter can become a breeding ground for sheer nonsense and utter baloney, akin to ideas like Von Daniken's "ancient astronauts" and "Nibiru", both of which, we all know, have absolutely no place in a science discussion section.

I respect people who post in the Spirituality and Occult thread by not going there. Similarly, if the topic pertains truly to science I will not interfere with the said discussion, but if it borders on the absurd, I will interfere whenever I can.

fair enough, mr.rodsky. it was wise of you to have refrained from posting there. it has become more of a circus than a spirituality thread. i, myself, am striving to keep my sanity against the clowns there. anyway, maybe we should change your "interfering" to "positive criticisms" and in that way, you can make yourself heard minus the sarcasm. and also the other party may post his comments and then a "healthy" discussion will take place. wouldn't that be wonderful, sir. the universe does not revolve around you, mr.rodsky. so be gentle with it. respect is the key word here, mr.rodsky. for an astronomer with unparalleled calibre of intellect such as yourself, i don't think there's difficulty in understanding that word.

if time travel is possible,

what's the diff kung travel back or towards future?

if you travel backwards you are going to a fixed [alternate] past. and travel forward to a fixed future. this means that the future has already happened. as explained by the block universe. there is no distinction between past present and future.

if you travel backwards you create paradoxes. and if you travel forward you are free with whatever you want to do. no paradoxes arise. but if the future is fixed cuz of the block universe explanation then by doing sumthing like killing a man who is predetermined to be the next president you will be creating a paradox. you are changing the timeline of that universe.

however, there is quantum mechanics and the uncertainty principle - the future really is not predetermined. you can do whatever you want in the future without affecting the long term future.

but there is an interpretation of QM wherein the future affects the past [the transactional interpretation of John Cramer]. imagine saving a fortune to buy a ferrarri. by calculation it would take you 5 years to buy that ferrarri. what if somebody travels to the future [3 years ahead] and somehow manipulates economics and make the car company bankrupt after 2 years. so by the time you have saved for the ferrarri [5 years], you wont be able to buy it since the company has gone bankrupt. by changing the future you have affected the past [plan to buy a car].

although no paradox arise in the QM interpretation, the future would become highly uncertain and unstable.

if travel forward, u get older faster?

so kung travel back, u get to be younger?

if you travel to either the future or past thru a wormhole you would age normally. but once in the wormhole, time = 0 so you dont age inside the wormhole.you'd follow the normal laws of physics once youre outside the w-hole.

time travel is possible if it is possible to speed up to the speed of light or beyond...or if one can possibly find wormhole...or if one can possibly find and reach for a blackhole in space....
so where do we start to dig for possibilities?
