If Gwen had pursued for its construction, her enemies would have used it against her (Sugbuak, etc..etc..)
exactly. dili jud na molusot sa provincial board, considering it is being dominated by the opposition.

The original design is indeed an avant garde but am afraid it wouldn't come out as planned. The governor has something else in mind. Blame it to the ASEAN Summit but the megadome won't be as it was designed to be because it will now become the Cebu International Convention Center which is also a boring and artless name for an international facility in this internet age. So generic a name. Very dull and uninspiring name.

The structure is so beautiful. Very world-class in design but it would just go down in the history as 'one of the buildings' if it would adopt a generic name which the 'unimaginative' officials would like to call it.

If they call it Cebu International Convention Center and it is a multi-purpose structure, it would become the butt of jokes to many. Who holds a basketball game in a convention center? Who expects to watch a boxing match in a convention center? Who would troop to a convention center to watch Junior Kilat Live in concert? Orchestral music may be okay but then again, the acoustics are designed differently according to the purpose of the building. So a convention center don't mix well with a sports stadium.

Why not name it something that even an elementary pupil from Florencio Urot can say it without breaking his tongue? A one-name structure is better than the tongue-twisting Cebu International Convention Center which is already adopted by Waterfront Cebu City Hotel for its large convention hall.

Some examples: The Esplanade in Singapore which is a theater complex. The Astrodome in Houston, Texas which is a ballpark. The Louvre in Paris, France which is a museum. The Guggenheim Bilbao in Bilbao, Spain which is also a beautiful museum. The Shea Stadium in New York which is a ballpark.

How about keep the original name, The Cebu Megadome, which is good enough? How about The Arena? The CourtHouse maybe? The AXIS? Futura perhaps? The HUB. How about C.E.B.U. for Cebu Universal Sports Center?

Or maybe "The Disk" kay spinning disc inspired man ang design...ok rapd ang megadome...

we can call it the cebu megadome...but inserting a convention center inside it may make it cheap...wala na jd d.i ta budget? unsa na lay i sulti sa uban dba? lain btaw kaau na naay basketball court sa taas nya convention center sa ubos...and they have the guts to call it International pa ha...

i love great architectures.. even im ece... i go to architecture lib at tc.. for hang-outs to see new innovations and technology in building structures... but if much of the said project's funds will go to corrupt pockets... better not! We could be proud of it and suffer its consequences... but illjuz hope for the best...wala na tayong magagawa..for construction na kasi eh
