Arrow Mga Ginagmay'ng Putahe Sa Pinulungang Bisaya

You use then everyday, you may not be aware of these little extras but they're part of our dialect.

Whether they were formally accepted as a general rule in using the dialect or just evolved over the years, you won't be able to construct a sentence completely without them.

What I'm talking about are the little extras which are added in our daily Cebuano conversation.
I don't know if other parts of the country uses similar combinations though.

Rule #1:If the word ends in a vowel or the last syllable sounds like a vowel, add ha to emphasize your sentence. If the word ends in a consonant or the last syllable sounds like a consonant, add a to emphasize your sentence.Applicable to both english and visayan words.

    Example:

    Unsa ma'y brand atong cellphona?
Asa padung ang byahe aning jeepa?
Pila na ka tuig nalunod tong barkoha?
    Paspas kaayo ning computera.
    DDR3 pud nang memoryha?
    Wa'y ayo nang lagaya

Rule #2: To denote a venue or a place, same rules but add han or anan or an.

    Example:

    parkingan
    peryahan
    tindahan
    sabungan
    computeran
    check-inanan

These things were never taught in schools but somehow because of our intelligence we learn it from day to day experiences. They might be written in Visayan tutorial books for foreigners.

    kaning mo ingon ta'g

    adtu-a gud tong imong amigo
    pakan-a imong iro
    lutu-a ang sud-an

the addition of "a" denotes future action sa?

but why do we say "text-i / teksi ko ha" and not text-a/teksa. WHY?

but why do we say "text-i / teksi ko ha" and not text-a/teksa. WHY?
first of all, it's wrong to say teksi.
because the root word for that action is not text but send.
sendi ko ug text or padad-i ko ug text message is the right one.

the addition of letter a or letter i, denotes not a future action but a command.
you add letter i if you want to command somebody to do something for you or for somebody else or to act upon an object which is the receiver of the action usually with the use of a primary tool.

    example:

    luto-i ko ug barbecue
    kuha-i ko ug tubig
    hubo-i ko ug kuan
    lansangi ang bungbong

on the other hand, adding letter a denotes a command given to someone to do something or to act upon a subject. it does not necessarily mean that the action is done for a specific person.

    example:

    subject = saging --- luto-a ang saging
    subject = apple ---- hiwa-a ang apple
subject = wire --- putla ang wire

    that explains
    adtu-a gud tong imong amigo
    pakan-a imong iro
    lutu-a ang sud-an

    and

    sendi ko ug text message

when you say future action, it's not adto-a but adto-on, not luto-a but luto-on, not pakan-a but pakan-on.
