Here's little things to help improve or lessen poverty:

    1. Just last June 16, 2009- I attended the Busog, Lusog, Talino meeting at Labogon Elem School in Mandaue. Its a program initiated by Jollibee Foods Corporation (with the 4 brands- Jollibee, Greenwich, Chowking and Red Ribbon). Its a feeding program for six months for Graders 1 and 2. I met Mr. Canoy there- the school principal of Leonard Wood Elem School in Jagobiao- This guy is amazing- he shared to me how he transformed his former school from the most malnourished pupils to healthy pupils. He had been doing feeding programs and have gone through greater lengths by influencing the community with his advocacy. He first started school gardens- veges, fruits, etc. The produce in the garden he used to feed the pupils with nutritious meals. At first- the gardens produce were stolen due to the dire need of the community. So he gave seedlings and encouraged the community near the school to plant too. This resulted to having the community join in his garden and feeding program- even the habal2X drivers volunteered to help with the program--- Amazing... this just shows that if each of us try to do even simple things to help each other, this will create a ripple effect. I call on each of us here reading this thread to do small things to help each other. Let us start by planting gardens and be examples. This will somehow help in daily expenses and will encourage our neighbors to do the same.
I remember my late lola who raised 9 children with my lolo working as a welder. My grandparents tend to their gardens and their chickens daily. Their garden yielded their daily needs except rice.

If each of us, specially those living at poverty line- start having gardens and at least lessen watching telenovelas and save electricity, we can ease a little on our spendings. Its a small step but its a start.

    2. Dont throw away reusable stuffs that you dont need. Give it to those who will need it- anothers man's garbage is another man's treasure. If you dont want to give, then sell it to those who might need it. A friend of mine sells his old stuffs and he does earn from it while helping others in the process. I am learning from him too.

    3. Dont buy very expensive items- try donating some of your excess money. Believe in good karma. It will return to you a hundredfold.

    4. Avoid credit and loans- loan only for things that matter- say a house and lot.

    5. Encourage your co-employee to do their best. That is one way to ensure your company will prosper. Encourage each Filipino to be better- that is one way to improve our country.

    6. Save, Save, Save!

Still- the HYPERWAGE THEORY is the single most effective way to reduce poverty... Since we are way too far from it, the above posts are baby steps.
