Default EL NIDO: A PARADISE ON EARTH

:!: El Nido is situated in the nothernmost tip of mainland Palawan. It is a municipality and marine reserve area. It offers great beaches, amazing natural wonders, fantastic sceneries and views, and lovely people.

Default EL NIDO: A PARADISE ON EARTH

I once brought my entire family to El Nido and we enjoyed every bit of it.

The problem with El Nido is that it takes you 12 hours to get there from Puerto Princesa via 4x4 SUV negotiating a bone-breaking road. Later I learned you could charter a flight to El Nido but this would cost an arm and a leg.

The Abu Sayaf kidnappings happened in Dos Palmas Resort which is in Puerto Princesa, the capital of Palawan.Â* El Nido is an hour away by plane.

To get to El Nido from Cebu, you can take a Cebu Pacific flight to Puerto Princesa.Â* If I'm not mistaken, I think Air Philippines or Asian Spirit just opened routes to Puerto Princesa also.Â* From Puerto Princesa, you can take a one hour Seair flight to El Nido.Â* If i remember correctly, the Seair flight is around 4-5k roundtrip.

What's nice about Puerto Princesa is that you can take a land trip to Sabang where you get to explore the 1.5 km Underground river.Â* It's one of only two UNESCO World Heritage sites in the country--the other being the Tubattaha Reefs (also in Palawan), the best dive spot in the Philippines.

But El Nido...El Nido is totally something else.Â* Its more than words can ever describe.Â* All i can say is that yes, i agree whole-heartedly that El Nido is a little piece of heaven on Earth.Â* I thought Boracay was my absolute favorite place in the Philippines but when I discovered El Nido, one look at those majestic, 250 million year old limestone cliffs from my airplane window and that was all it took to change my mind.

Palawan or Hong Kong? Palawan, hands-down.Â* Think of it as supporting local tourism.Â* Discover the Philippines first.Â* You won't regret it.Â*
