40-42 pesos per dollar in the next months? Where did you read that? From what I've read the rate is expected to be in the 48-50 range as the year progresses. It would already have surpassed that range were it not for the BSP intervening daily on the foreign currency market. Since April last year, the BSP has been using its US Dollar reserves to buy pesos on the market to keep it afloat (in the 47-48 range lately). Without their daily intervention on the Forex, the peso would likely be in the low 50s range now. Better check your data... Seems a tad out of date.

I don't think so.......................... today, the exchange rate closed at 47.28. The continued remittance inflow from OFWs, the resilient economy along with the continuous weakening of the Dollar has pushed the Peso to a high time degree. These are good signs,.

Yahoo Philippines has a Business link that you should be following. The economy here is in big trouble, just like the rest of the world. Remittances have been down, and will likely continue to drop. But don't take my word for it. I'm only telling you what the international financial experts are publishing. I follow the peso exchange rate daily... There are ZERO signs that it will be heading in the direction of 40-42 per dollar. Follow its progress on the above link. You will see the daily intervention by the BSP to keep it from going above 48. It's costing the BSP millions of dollars each month to keep the peso in the 47 range, and they will not be able to sustain that practice according to reports on Yahoo.
