to get a quality P&S you'll have to raise your budget a bit higher than that. otherwise, you'll end up with CDR-King or some other china imitation brands that you'll regret buying later.

it's not a matter of using a P&S, or a DLSR. what matters is you learn the basics first. if you manage to use a cheap cam for a year, then that will be the time to think of upgrading...12 months is probably enough for you to know if photography is really your thing, and enough time to save for an upgrade.

@hunt: Mao pud bro noh. Naka suroy ko gahapon pero usa pa noon ka mall. Naa ko nakit-an Aiptek mga 3500, GE 5k+, Kodak 5k+. Nag hinoktok lagi ko bro patas-an nako ang budget like what bro pnoize said. Balo baya ka na maka budget ko ug inana, toys dayon ang unahon diba bro hunt?

@mikelambada: As of now, all I can think of when I have one is to shoot and shoot my toys. It's true when you said that people should start on the basics. I think it's better to use a non-DSLR for noobs like me Correct?

Have you tried the buy and sell section of Istorya, there's some good deals there - but I agree with pnoize, ull have to raise ur budget a bit to get a good quality starter.
