I'm a newbie to stock investing. just wanted to share how I'm doing it.

Right now, I track my portfolio using Philippine Stock Exchange. Opening an account there, I am able to track stock prices and stock information. Whenever I have extra money that I want to invest like around P5,000 or so, I usually study what's a good stock to buy then check the price history and the tips from stock analysts (more on this later). Then I just text my stockbroker to place my buy order. On the same day I get a confirmation receipt of the transaction delivered to my office.

Two days after, they come to collect my payment at the office then i get my receipt. When I sell my stocks, the process is the same except instead of me paying, they deliver a check.

Every transaction is charged a small fee, usually around 110 pesos. Normally, I don't sell my stocks without making sure I've made enough to cover the transaction fees plus earnings. For most of the selling I've done so far, I've been able to make upwards of 10% from my initial investment.

I only have one stock that hasn't recovered (megaworld). I had bought it before the financial crisis hit. It fell hard and I waited too long to cut my losses. But I'm not worried. The price will go back up eventually. You only lose if you sell your stocks at a lower price than when you bought them. If the price starts to go down, you can sell and cut your losses or you can just hold on to your stocks and just wait for the price to go back up before you sell. I opted for the latter.

Stock trading seems like rocket science but it really is very simple. Just try to buy low, wait for the price to go up, then sell. Bang, you've made your money. Keep doing that for a long time over a portfolio of stocks and you're well on your way to serious wealth.

The money is very real guys, I assure you. Just today, i sold a few of my stocks at a profit. I wouldn't have sold if it wasn't for the swine flu scare which made me worry that prices would drop. They did actually but not by much. In a few days when prices stabilize again, I'll buy into stocks again. All the money I've earned, i plow right back into stocks. That way, I get a snowball effect. The master plan is to retire rich. I'm targetting an 8-figure amount in 25 to 30 years. It's very doable. I've done the projections.

You can start small. As low as P3,000 pesos for certain stocks. If you want to learn and try stocks, do it this year because the market is low and there's lots of cheap stocks that are poised to go up. It's already started in fact!

been doing stocks trading for 2 years even prior to the July 2007, the inception of what we have now, the world financial crisis. I am still convinced not go back after I sold all my shares because the market is still very volatile. It doesnt make any sense at all, in fact, it feels like gambling anymore. Il wait until the market stabilizes..

@evagreen... it would have been the perfect time to invest during the crisis. Let's say invest in ayala or some sound company that would last throughout the crisis. You will gain more when the market stabilizes. Regarding the financial crisis, try to read Warren Buffet's piece "Buy America, I am"... It's nice to get some investing advice from the richest man in the world. ^__^
