@ glide 1 & centax: looking at your Coretemp display...ok pa kaayo na e-push inyong procie...dako pa kaayo ang value sa Distance to TJunction Max...when that distance has a value of 0(zero), the ITM is activated and processor PROCHOT# interrupt is generated...THIS IS NOT THE BURNUP TEMP, its just an "i'm too hot" temp...depending on your procie...when that catastrophic temp is reached(normally 15c-20c above prochot temp), the processor will just shutdown to cool itself off...

pwede kaayo ma run ang system w/ 1c distance to TJ Max...its still w/in spec...u can't kill the CPU w/ heat...but its not a good thing to do 24x7 the other system components like your mobo might give up...

here is a way to know the REAL TEMP sa imong proc:

    - download CrystalCPUID & run it
    - goto Function -> MSR Editor
    - at the top of the box u see the MSR Number(MSR-Model Specific Register)
    - Intel refers to the register as IA32_THERM_STATUS, located at position 0x19c
    - w/ in that register, bits 22...16, is where the readings from the DTS sensor are stored
    - enter the MSR# and click the RDMSR button

    - The raw DTS data is the one on the EAX register. In this example the data returned is 0x882E0000

    - Each hexidecimal digit equals 4 bits. Bits [15..00] are the 4 zero digits on the right.Bits [22.16] are represented by 2E in this example.

    - 2E hexidecimal equals 46 in decimal. this says that the proc is 46C below the assertion of the i'm too hot prochot

Using the MS Calculator program if you need a simple program to convert.

    The formula is:
Core Temperature = Tjunction - DTS

In my case Tjunction is 85 so
    Core Temperature = 85 - 46 = 39C

according to this datasheet from Intel its 67.9c at full TDP of 130W(see page 79)...
    http://download.intel.com/design/pro...hts/320834.pdf

like all modern Intel procs, the i7 is calibrated such that at full TDP of 130W coretemps will be around 100c when TCaseMax of 67.9c is reached...naa kai approx 32c gradient between Tcase & coretemp...so u are out of spec when coretemp exceeds 100c...

@ centax: forgive my forgetfullness(lain man gud nga klasing OC ako lingaw karon...hehehe OC=Ozawa's Compulsion) the Core i7 DTS info are called as TJTarget and TJMax...MSR is 0x1A2, bits[23:16]

pm lang nako imong email addr so i can send u an MSR Tool...
