walay labot ang OCCT? 2 hours OCCT stress test is pretty much equal to 1 day prime 95 diba?

@ zhadlp: there has been reports that sometimes OCCT picks up an error within an hour test but majority of the overclockers use prime95 and most of the errors are usually picked up after around 6 hours where even an indefinite runtime of OCCT can't. in other words, most stability tests that pass on OCCT fails on Prime95 at its later hours although naa sad times na it passes Prime95 but fails on OCCT within an hour, the majority of the test favors Prime95.

Not entirely true, i have known a-lot of people who have done Prime95 whole 24 hours stable and ran OCCT in the first minute and errored out. I really don't think Prime95 test are more favorable then OCCT.

There is really no such thing as a better program, its just that Prime95 went out it was one of the first good programs for testing stabilitythat's why people use it more, if OCCT was out first people would use it more often. This is the same thing with Orthos and Intel Burn Test(LINX). People don't even use Intel burn test because of reasons like "IBT is pointless it just burns your processor too much and doesn't really do anything better then other programs." Some also don't use OCCT because it makes the Processor hotter then Prime95 and sometimes IBT.

It's just annoying that people assume Prime95>OCCT because more people use Prime95, that's false a-lot of people in xtremesystem, overclock, hardforum, sgvware, etc. are switching to OCCT from Prime95 as we speak. It also depends on the person, some are used to Prime95 and assume nothing will ever be better then Prime95 then again this is false.

I ran my test through OCCT always, especially if i pass 1 hour stability test, i can pretty much pass prime95 in small/med/large in 24 hours. If OCCT fails in first hour, prime fails.

    Edit:

This is like Nvidia Ntuner vs RivaTuner or Ati's CCC Auto-Tune vs ATI-Tools when people stress tess for overclocking.

To make this clearer both programs are good, it all depends on the user, all programs will always have its cons and pro's. There are features people love in OCCT like the very informative generated Graphs after you do your tests, or the simple Prime95 UI.

thanks andz, you've resurrected my faith in OCCT, I rarely use prime95 anyways, so I'm just gonna stick with OCCT, hehehe...

and you are correct about 1 thing, OCCT is quick in finding errors, when playing with the OC yesterday, I ran prime95 for about 3 hours with no errors while OCCT found one within 15mins...

^ it all boils down to the user from like i said but from experience, i've had a lot of instances where it passes 1-2 hours OCCT but fails Prime95 after 5 hours or more. to put it in perspective, its usually 3 times out of 4 there are also cases with an overnight run with Prime95, no errors yet, OCCT picks it up on the first few minutes of the test.

Then again this is not the thread to discuss and argue about the best utility. Each program has its own advantage where the OCCT edges Prime95 out with graphs and other monitoring utilities. Common mistake with people that pass overnight test with Prime95 is that they forget to Enable Round-Off Checking.

True, there are some who forget to enable round-off but from experiences i gotten and experiences from friends, also the interwebs, i just find OCCT better for stability tests, but that's just my opinion.

What i am trying to say is, Both programs are good, none of them are better then the other, it all depends on the users and there experiences with the programs.

    Touche'!

This is my thread so I make the last statement

Quick tests 1-2 hours with OCCT after that, paranoia-mode with a 6-hour run or more with Prime95 on Small/Large FFTs (this draws out maximum heat). For stability testing that includes the memory controller and the memory itself, that would have to be a blend test, run it for another several hours. But between the 2 programs, its the Burn Test Utility that draws the maximum temperature at the smallest amount of time, so try that as well as a quick test. Syaro di pa jud makit-an ang error/max temps.

Now, back to you Andz...post your screenshot na! IBT or Prime95
