    Default Ur Experience with Canon


    hi guys,

    my friends got a problem / bad experience with his 300d. A few months after he bought his 300d unit, the mirror box or somthing fell daw. he had it sent to canon to have it fix. He was told that it should be replaced for apparent reasons.. he shelled out some cash for it... then it took awhile before it got back, he keeps on following it up, till he got it back.. the box was ok already, problem was the exposure got crazy.. (overexposed) he returned it again.. so on and so forth..

    to cut it short.. i think the cycle continued FIVE TIMES. and took a very long time ( around 8 months of going back and forth.) he asked help from friends to have it followed it up and everything but of no used..

    now my friend is having problem on what to do with the unit. if he returns it to canon, it might take him another couple of months with no assurance it will get fixed. if he wont send it back.. he got a useless unit in his hang.. a lose-lose situation for him..

    I hope some of you guys can help him out. or do u have any suggestions or advices that might solve this situation?!

    i had similar experienced, the 3 weeks time they promised took me more than 3 months of waiting. when the unit is on my hand, the exposure is way overexpose.

    am glad i didn't send it back to them for calibration. i just use it for more than a month shooting only in Manual mode, then later on i tried AV/TV and i have to test it more on that mode before i can give my conclusion, but one thing for sure, the right focus points doesn't work -- it overexpose much beyond repair on photoshop.

    tell your friend to use it in manual mode, calibrating sensor on individual basis is pretty hard to nail down.

    consumer DSLR are not expected to last i guessed, coz most of the problem is in the sensor box fell out or the holding spring snaps after or so clicks. i remember mine broke at around 13K clicks.

    i had the same experience with a film camera i had repaired in manila. i sent my ixus gold last july '05 and until now they say they're still having it tested or something. what a load of crap!

    I had the same problem with mine last month, yes when it comes to repair canon sucks, dugay kaayo na maabot because sa kataas sa linya, daghan kaayo gapa-ayo, but now I've heard na ila na daw ilahi ang all DSLR/SLR cameras and give more attention to it that in point and shoot, kay usually di lang kay mahal the one's using slr cameras are usually using it for business purposes or professionals not like point and shoot na pang picture2 lang gyud. Anyway about 300D, well we cant expect that much for an entry level na DSLR, what they told me and 300D kuno dili na gamiton sa mga rinakrakay nga shooting, meaning when you use it, dont use it as if your using a 20D or higher canon, kay bisan ug capable siya technically it's stillnot advisable, hinay hinay ra kinahanglan ana niya nga gamit, that's why the mirror usually ang problem niya ani. Mine broke and I got it a month later, and that's a week before sinulog ako sila gi hassle pag ayo, imagine I dont have a camera pag xmas & new year, ako lang sila gipasaylo but never na gyud pag sinulog mao na cge ko tawag sa manila just to fix my cam pag sinulog, so far it's back and still in good condition, if warranty pana better let them change that with new one.

    Daghan man sad ko kaila who owns 300D so far wala paman sila nag problima until now mag 2 years na ila unit, if you really want a good canon in any shooting condition start it with 20D and up. Dont expect too much for 300D and 350D, their price is just exact for their capabilities, dont use them as if you're using a professional camera, they are only an entry level. okens hope naa koy na tabang para di ka ma discourage.

    Have my camera repaired last September but up until now my unit is still in their hands.
    I keep calling Canon-Makati and they also keep on promising. Inutil man sad ning Canon-Cebu
    kay kung di nimo tawgan di sad nila i-follow up sa ila head office. Zoom assembly maoy defect
    sa ako and they said they were able to fix the problem in two weeks. Yet they also suggested to replace the CCD free-of-charge misugot pud tawon ko. They said by December I can claim my camera but nothing happened actually. They again said by first week of January and then second week of January... wala lang gyapon. They promised to call last friday pero wala lang gyapon.

    Kani nga thread kung naa muy access to any canon employees pwede ni nato ipabasa sa ila para they can take actions to that.

    i can deal with promises as long as they'll stick to it. if they promised 3 months they should fix it in 3 months time. i don't like this filipino-ish way of promises. if, by that time i've known that it would took them more than 3 months to fix my camera and it will cost me 8.5k -- i'll try to fix it myself even to point that it will be unusable and beyond repair.

    Sir Agoroy: so wala nagyud nimo ge balik? so busted lng gehpon gyud? ge antos nlang nimo?Pero dili ba ta pwede ta ka demand nila na pa ilisan ug new unit?? lisud kaau na na style.. mag salig na sila if dili e complain nato.. kung pasagdan nlang nato..

    nod423: yea, i agree medyo naa gyud flaw pa ang 300d but the story here is not the durability of the unit.. its theyre lousy Service. but point taken nod. thats what im afraid also with this units (300d / 350d) because they are prone to break down, you'll be force to have it reapair and suffer the long agonizing-hassle wait/follow up I dont think this thread will affect them, to hear from you guys, that you were complaining to them and with no results, i dont think this mere thread will scare them.. basing from what ive heard (though i havent tried having them repair my cam, coz i just got it this early january (350d) so far so good) "baga" na kaau ni sila ug nawong (face). Dili na ni sila ma "ulaw" or "maikog". na immune na tingali ni sila sa kasaba.

    Im just concern, being a canon user also, thinking and hearing that canon has a broad presence so walay problema ang repair. I feel i was cheated / "ilad" if these are what you guys experience and my friend too.

    I dont know what the other PRo-users have to say to this topic?..

    OT: so what are you guys using for the moment?
