Spreading of unconfirmed reports/information is a criminal act.

Do not spread false information. There are NO confirmed reports of H1N1 Influenza A cases in Cebu City.

The more important thing you can do for yourself? Protect yourself from ANY form of flu. The common flu killed more people in the past year compared to Swine Flu deaths.

Solution? Wash your hands regularly. Enough said.

People often wonder why grammar and syntax are important in communication, and this is a classic example of why it is indeed important. Are you ready for this?

Suspected does NOT equate to confirmed.

The difference between a calm, well-informed public, and a panic-chaotic situation? Proper grammar.

Think before opening your mouth / typing into your keyboards.

No, excuse me but you are trying to escape your error here. In your original statement you said "naa da daw sa Cebu". If there were a LAW to arrest people spreading false information, you'd be on that list. Saying that the Swine Flu virus is already in Cebu (unsa pa man diay imong buot ipasabot sa "naa da daw sa Cebu" abi ber?) yet it is clearly unconfirmed, is tantamount to rumour mongering and irresponsible posting.

I-clarify daw sa amo diri aber, kung unsa man nang "naa na sa Cebu" bi.

Yes, you just might be echoing what local news reports have said, but you cannot trust the press with information such as these--they have schedules to beat, deadlines to accomplish, and mouths to feed--they cannot be reliable sources of information. So don't defend yourself by saying "Nag report lang gani ko kung unsa nakit-an nako sa TV" because from my vantage point, that is still unacceptable.

This goes out to EVERYONE posting in this thread--if you want to maintain a level of calm and order among the populace, stop your irresponsible spreading of rumours. Be a responsible person. It's one way of truly helping your community.

^^^just saw sa tv patrol cebu that there are 2 suspected of contracting swine flu. the airplane arrived daw in Mactan and before the media got close, the 2 were wisked away by authorities and isolated immediately including all the passengers aboard. One is a Pinoy and the other is a langyaw daw.

the authorities are still in the process of determining if it is just a common flu, a common cold/fever, or the one that hit headline news just recently.

i just hope they follow all standard detailed procedures in dealing w/ cases like these. otherwise, if swine flu gyud ug God knows masipyat, delikado kau motakod even sa mga health personnel and then the general public.

in the meantime, there is no cause for panic. we have handled SARS and Bird flu before and prevented them effectively from entering the Phils...and to think HK or China is closer to the Phils geographically than Mexico.

    Again, I wish to reiterate.

Suspected is not equivalent to confirmed.

Do take note that this post is not out to negate your post giddy--if these events are indeed facts, then they are facts which will be continuously monitored by sensible people who are level-headed and calm at the job of data collection and fact-gathering.

What I'm doing is an (possibly futile) attempt to desensationalize this virus scare, because the less sensationalized it is, the more the general public in Cebu can avoid panic and chaos, which I believe everyone doesn't want.
