    Togs:

I'll try to answer your questions.

Gamit ka ug Gparted or PartedMagic nga CD. Kini sila mga Linux-based disk partitioning tool libre ni sila ug dali ra idownload ilang iso and bootable CD's sad ni sila. Personally, i use PartedMagic(40MB). Kun usa ra ka partition imong hard drive, pwede nimo i-shrink imong Windows partition without damaging your data using the above utilities pero usa ka mag-shrink, imo unang i defragment imong hard disk.

(Pls read up on Linux directory structure.).

Also burn at lower speeds (8x) to ensure a good burn.

Back up your important files before shrinking partitions.

IMHO, mas sayon sa mga newbies ang Ubuntu and you can do the above partitioning using Ubuntu LiveCD before or during installation. Mas sayon pa jud ang Linux Mint (based on Ubuntu) kay tanang mga codecs sa mga common media nakainstall na daan.

    Good luck.

OP should use punctuation marks the next time. Kay naglisud kog kuha sa iyang story.

Well its this, the guy above me is right na you should have an extra partition para sa linux. however, leave the extra partition for linux "UNPARTITIONED". this means do not format the drive yet.

The reason why you are having "Insert bootable disk" errors is that you may not have a bootloader installed. Im not sure about this, if ang bootloader nimo kay grub, im sure automatic man siya mo-detect and configure na there are two operating systems.

Or if ang bootloader sa imong linux distro kay LILO or other kinds, kana problema na. You will have to manually configure your bootloader so you can load either linux or windows.

I have encountered this problem with my dualbooted vista+backtrack 3. Ang error kay mao-mao ra sa ato but then akong bootloader kay okay ra ang configuration(im using LILO).The reason is that I haven't set any of the two partitions(linux and windows partitions) to active. I solved the problem by going into Qparted(a partition tool for backtrack 3) and I set the windows as my active partition.

Im sorry if what I have said isn't really understandable for linux newbies. I'll try to have an explanation easier than that

There are many ways to skin a cat.

    Mandriva uses GRUB bootloader.

^Hmmm weird. It could be that grub hasn't been automatically configured. If that's the case you will have to manually configure grub so it you can load an OS.

Or the problem could be that you have to set a partition to active.
