    Call for entries: April 25 - June 30, 2009


    Calling all students, independent and amateur filmmakers and film/media collectives to submit entries.

    Categories: documentary, narrative, animation, experimental, PSAs, motion graphics, etc.

    Themes: people's issues and struggles, human rights, war and peace, gender, etc. Special attention to films on children's situation and participatory media production

    Works produced from 2000 onwards are accepted.

    More than one entry from one group or individual is allowed.

    Works from Luzon, Visayas, MIndanao and NCR will have representation in the screenings.

    Et Al Productions presents “SUGBUANONG LILAS”, featuring 4 cebuano independent films at the College of Architecture and Fine Arts Theater, University of San Carlos, Talamban Campus.



    “Sugbuanong Lilas” will exhibit four independent short films that depict the history, culture and contemporary Cebuano art. Films include the showings of Publio Briones III’s “Babaylan” and the award-winning “Ang Pagbalik”, Remton Zuasola’s “Humamai” and “To siomai love”.

    This film exhibition is on 09 May 2009, 3PM at the University of San Carlos CAFA Theatre, Talamban Campus with ticket price pegged for Php 90.00 only with free synopses.


    There is also a special exhibit of “Tipak sa Kalayo” paintings of Ms. Bambi Beltran.


    Kadangyan CDs will also be available during the film viewing.

    Et Al Productions supports the local independent creative Cebu industry. Inculcating in the minds of the Youth that social realism can be perceive through art and create change in the society and also with the advocacy of creating fund raising projects for independent artists and “struggling artists”.

    Multi-awarded filmmaker Ruel Antipuesto and New York-based Cebuana filmmaker Janice Perez's short feature "Sabungero" is now part of the Short Film Corner of the Cannes Film Festival!

    The film was shot during a 12-hour production in Mactan island cockfight pit and after three months, it's on its way to Cannes!

    Default Call for Extras for an IAFT Student Thesis

    Students from the International Academy of Film and Television-Bigfoot, Mactan are in need of 30 extras for a student thesis film, "The Break Up" for June 13, 2009, Saturday.

    They will be part of a scene involving them playing members of a gay pride parade. Also, if possible, it is requested that if they have colorful and appropriate clothing for a gay parade, for them to bring their own costumes.

    Meals will be provided afterwards.

    THE 11TH CINEMANILA INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL
    CALL FOR ENTRIES

    Call for Entries to Cinemanila 2009

    Now on its 11th year, Cinemanila once again celebrates the best of Philippine and World Cinema in an 11-day event, running from October 15-25, 2009 at the Bonifacio Global City, Taguig, Philippines.

    Cinemanila welcomes filmmakers from around the world to submit their films to this year’s festival. The festival accepts local and foreign full-length features, shorts and documentaries. There is no entry fee for applications.

    The Entry Selection Committee will choose six to ten films from among the qualified entries to participate in the following competition sections:

    • Main Competition (International Features)
    • Southeast (SEA) Competition – Features & Shorts
    • Digital Lokal (Philippine full-length digital films only)
    • Young Cinema (Philippine short films only)
    • Documentary (International)

    All other films not selected for Competition are eligible for exhibition programs of the festival.

    All Entry Deadlines, except for Digital Lokal: FRIDAY, AUGUST 14, 2009
    Digital Lokal Deadline: FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 4, 2009
    *The deadline is the date we need to have RECEIVED your entry.

    General Information About Submissions

    Films being considered for the Young Cinema and Digital Lokal Competition must be Philippine premieres.

    Films in a language other than English must be subtitled in English.

    The Festival reserves the right to decide all questions not specifically provided for in the regulations.

    The 11th Cinemanila International Film Festival is jointly organized by the Independent Cinema Association of the Philippines (ICAP), the City of Taguig and a specially commissioned inter-agency committee. It will be held from October 15 to 25, 2009 in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig.

    Aside from parallel competitions for full-length, short and documentary films, there will also be distinct exhibitions, tributes, marathon showings, and other sidebar events. Master classes, seminars and workshops will also be held during the festival and will cover subjects and issues on independent filmmaking. Directors, producers, critics and actors throughout Asia, Europe and North America will be invited to attend the film event.
