got this IBM R31 laptop, bios got system locked.. we tried resetting bios by taking the cmos battery off and short circuiting it; it didnt work! still locked!
how do we possibly bypass the bios lock?

try tanggala ang battery sa cmos ug ang battery sa laptop for 1 day.. Sharo dili ma reset...
basin gi write sa EEPROM ang lock niya, kng ingana dili gihapon madala tang tang batts pero try 1day lol syaro

lisod mana bro basta tangalon nmo ang batt sa laptop...f naa ka support sa ibm try tawag kana f wla bayad..
i think naa na cla generic password sa bios..
mga bro, ako gisuway patan aw sa microbagz. ingon sila, kinahanglan kono i-reflash ang bios. nya ibm ra ang mga pa-reflash.
ako tingali suwayan tawag ang ibm, basin naa gyud sila generic password. thanks.

useless mana kung naa generic password, walay security, try nalang daw katong 1 day no batts sa mobo lol pero basin giwrite gyud sa firmware ang lock, dili madala tangtang batts ana, basin reflash gyud

IBM laptops employ a tighter security sheme than Desktop PCs that we're familiar with.
if the administrator/supervisor password is enabled and you forget it, sorry ka na lang 'coz resetting CMOS by any means doesn't clear that password.
IBM is using another security chip where that administrator/supervisor password is written into, and the only way to get rid of that password is to replace the motherboard if you have forgotten it. unless you're a super techie anyway...
