Faith amidst poverty

I went to Redemptorist church last sunday(04/19/09).
After the mass, usually mo-adto dayon ko sa kandila-an para modagkot.
As I stood there praying, I can see people passing by the altar nga manguros and kiss the image of mama mary. Most of them are well dressed and it is quite obvious that they are in good standing with regards to financial. Maka-observe man cguro ta nga daghan kaau de-auto mosimba sa redemptorist.

Then suddenly I saw a very old woman, hugaw kaau sya og sinena, ang tsinelas nya karaan na kaau, hinay na kaau mulakaw, mangupot na gani sa kilid2x inig naug sa altar, and you can see it in her skin nga uyamot jud kaau ang tigulang.
But what has struct me was, pag-adto niya sa mga altar mokuha jud sya og singko pesos pra ihulog didto. Bisan sa iyang kapobre og kawad-on nihatag sya og gasa sa ginoo imbis unta iya tong tigumon pra pagka-on niya. What was "ironic" kay katong mga medyo naay kaya molabay raman sa altar pero ang tigulang nga klaro jud kaayong naglisud nihatag pman jud.

It was a TOUCHING experience for me. bilib ko sa FAITH nga gi-show sa tigulang bisang sa iyang pagka-uyamot.

real encounters like this reminds us that we are not totally hopeless.. its probably just a matter of convinction and ..well..faith!

Faith, something that makes you feel fullfilled and complete, nothing concrete, based on feelings and ideology. By dictionary definition, faith is belief in something without proof. And you know ain't true.

Are you saying that the poor old lady is just wasting her time and money?
Do you have proof that faith ain't true? or are you just basing it to what the dictionary says which is gisulat rasad og certain individuals?

Faith is not just towards God. Faith can be applied to anyone, to your wife, to your parents, or to your friends. Have you not ever experienced being faithful to anyone?

Mutual respect, affection and love for one another

The faith that i believe in is quite different from religious faith. Faith based on overwhelming past experience and results. It is the faith that:

There is an external world that exists independently of our minds.
There are quantifiable natural laws that describe how things happen in this world, and we can attempt to understand them.
These natural laws won’t change when we’re not looking, the universe isn’t totally chaotic.
