you gotta be kidding me...

wtf is this? its not even art or whatever you call it... theres no photo manipulation what so ever... just plain brushes downloaded from the internet and some measly lense flare effect...
um, i don't want to be rude but you don't need to trick somebody that its "non-filter lense flare effect" coz its still a lense flare effect... people see it as lense flare, so it doesn't matter if its made manually or not... its still lense flare... and emerald earth, im guessing you're still in high school. and its your first time using this great wonderful tool that is Photoshop... no offense, but you still got a long way to go if you want to make it on the field of digital media.

2 things you might wanna consider:
    1. dont use lense flare unless its required(in your case its not)... and ofcourse the infamous render clouds... dont use it as a background
some of you misunderstood what the Render Clouds is for... it has a higher purpose than being a lousy backdrop.

    2. avoid using your mouse to paint brushes...
if you want to practice air brushing, go buy a wacom

the list can keep on going on and on and on... but it would be a waste of time, space and bandwidth.

    LIGHTNING TUTORIAL

There are many ways to make lightning in Photoshop... or any other graphics software. Â*One of the easiest would be to get Kai's Power Tools 6 or 7 and use the KPT Lighting filter to layout great bolts of lighting!!!

    Though if you're a do-it-yourself type... here's a fast and easy way...

First use the brush, pen, line, or shape tool to make your bolts basic shape in white...

Then make a mask of that shape and use select > modify > expand to increase the size of your mask until it's just a little bigger than your bolt. Â*Make a new layer behind the bolt and fill in the mask with whatever color you like...

Then add a nice gaussian blur to the back layer...

Finish up by using a small tipped brush to paint in the points of the bolt's fingers...

This method can also be used to add special effects to other things like signatures

This was the method they also used for the lightsaber effect in the original STAR WARS trilogy.Â* All the actors were sparring with were handles with thin metal rods for the blade.Â* Then they rotoscoped the glowing blades on frame by frame...

...actually, I hate the swirling smoke at the model's feet also ... still trying to come up with something else...

...and the finger bolts need more work, too...Â* Â*oh, well.

or you can do this for the lightning effect... USING RENDER CLOUDS!

    1. Create a 600x600 document
    2. Make a Black and White Gradient like this:

    3. Select Filter > Render > Difference Clouds
It should look similar to this:

    4. Invert the colors by pressing CTRL+I

    5. Adjust the levels to 253 / 0.3 / 255

    6. Add color to it by Pressing CTRL+ALT+U
The sample is more on blueish... you can mix your own color to whatever you want.

    7. Your done.

This is a more realistic lightning effect, although you can't control the lightning effects direction or shape. but you can always try to repeat step 2 and 3.

filters ra ang gisaligan? it comes with the software... its essential to use filters my dear... kung dili ka mugamit og filters aw... paintbrush na lang gamita. i think you're refering to the term "PLUG-IN"... plug-ins are a big help also when you need a quick and dirty output. but do away with plugins as much as you can kay lisud na kung maanad kag plug-ins...

i really mean filter not plug-ins..
Lightning effect you can just used directly the brush and add a layer style like outer and inner glow.....

Can you creat me a buble with 3 moves only with out using any brush that must be a cool challenge.
