1GB is overkill 4 your situation... a 512mb stick shud add to 256 equals 768.. which very ok already

remember the athlon 64 M2 arrives it will use the newer DDR2

yob, fd: crazy noh. 1GB man sad ako ram then dili man ko hilig mo pa dagan ug multiple applications na dugan.
gamit nako sa ako physical mems (based sa task manager) around 2xx - 4xx mb lang. so disable na dayon ang virtual mems. heheh

your PROC is still very alive kicking trust me. hehe.... pair it with gud rams and vcard.

same board, ours is Asus A7V8-X, XP2100+, 384MB only, runs fine on Unreal 2k4 800x600 medium settings..

i don't have any good reason to upgrade but buy another unit... heheh

1 GB is not overkill.. you will definitely notice a significant speed bump with 1GB when playing games or when starting up your PC.

1GB + 6600 GT (or 6800 GS AGP if you can? :>) = t3h l337!
