unfortunately, most of those sold by peddlers are not Cebu colasisis but rather apicalis subspecies. Chrysonotus is a cebu subspecies and is known by the continous red from the head down the nape then back where other species is separated by the green tinge. I saw a chrysonotus only once sa may alcoy and it was run over by a truck......i guess it was already too old mao nitugpa sa kalsada.

Sa una naa koy nabuhi nga Chrysonotus johan---- (sorry nakalimot ko sa specie name). Sabaan kaayo to nga klase sa parrot. Iya dughan kay dunay stripe nga yellow or white ba to. I have four birds and found nga ang Crocolandia have a pair also. A certain Fernandez introduced me that bird which I said is similar to mine. Unfortunately for me and fortunate for the birds, they all escape from the cage. I read from a book of Philippine birds and said Chrysonotus is found only in highlands specially in the mountains of Kitanglad of Bukidnon.

Cebu Hanging Parrots (Loriculus philippensis chrysonotus)

* Distribution: Cebu Island in the Philippines. Current status unknown, probably extinct - the main cause being the clearing of primary forest areas.


* Description: The Cebu Hanging Parrots average 5.5 inches (14 cm) in length. They look like the nominate species, but the back of the crown and the head, as well as the upper back are gold-yellow. Female look like males, but lack the red throat and breast patch. The nape and upper back are green tinged and only lightly gold-yellow. The lores and cheeks are tinged pale blue.

after a month or 2!!!!!.............. ive noticed that they are molting!!! dn d
