"If you are not part of the solution, you are part of the problem."
pero if asked if we would become rich and industrialized like the U.S., murag lagpas ra kau na. U.S. is a very big federal country composed of different States. and their land area and resources are so big that it almost can stand alone as a single continent.
pero there's nothing wrong to having a benchmark country to look up and make it into a role model. it is just a matter of selecting which country best to benchmark. I say Japan, Singapore & HK as better benchmark models for the Phils with regards to industrialization, infra and urbanization (and perhaps the gov't efficiency and effectiveness too).
Though Indonesia can best be described geographically as the one having the closest resemblance to the Phils. (same within SE Asia and composed of many thousand islands too), that country is not a good one to benchmark in general as it is also among the developing countries not far from the Phils, Vietnam, Thailand and Malaysia. well perhaps some lang like their seaweed/carrageenan industry that surpassed us already.
With regards to agriculture (especially rice production), we have to become at par or even surpass the performance of Vietnam and Thailand.
nothing's impossible..and nothing's constant...let's be optimistic nlng, it's more interesting to look forward to something...^_^
