In saying that is was not his intention of insulting OFW's then what really, if there ever is, his real intention? The English language can be interpreted in many ways? Yes, I understand that but calling the Filipinos a 'Nation of Servants' and all of the other phrases that he let go of... it really is going too far already. And is describing his literary work as being satirical justify it? I though that Chip Tsao is well-educated? Then he must know how satirical phrases are used then huh? Or maybe he doesn't... Maybe of all the Melamine that his body has accumulated, his brain has gone... SPOOF! Or did he have one to begin with? Anyway, no matter how you interpret those scornfull, racist, and derogatory words, one thing clearly stands out, Chip Tsao is one racist idiot. Hey Chip, how about you be my servant and I'll be paying you by letting you eat on a silver platter... filled with dog food that is.

the context of that phrase in lieu with other words that he is letting go made it derogatory. that's the main reason why many found his article disparaging.

My take on this is for us a country to accept reality but at the same time our government must act to reverse the situation, which means to work doubly hard to ensure that jobs are available in the country so we may not send more and more people to work as domestics abroad. Easier said than done of course, but this present phenomenon of sending domestics abroad did not go about overnight and so the solution may take years too. But the point is to start the basics of reform now. The 2010 elections could well provide us venue to choose leaders of vision and courage to make reforms.

On the short term, it is correct that our leaders and the people in general have voiced out objection and contempt over the article. It simply is not acceptable to make fun or insult the sensibilities of a country. But then again, as pointed out by some, we cannot fight bigotry with bigotry. While we condemn racial slur, we too as a country must be consciouss not to be guilty as Chip Tsao. Some of us also make fun of the weaknesses of some nations, some of us made fun out of the small chinky eyes of chinese, of mongolians, of the smell of the bombay and many more.

In media reports, we continue to use tags on criminals or terrorists with the word "muslim" when religion has nothing to do with their criminalit but we do not place the word "Christian" if the accused is a Chrisitan.

its Tsao's opinion anyway... besides, there is some truth in what he is saying... if you are a citizen in hong kong or china, Tsao's remarks can be considered somewhat patriotic... For filipinos, we usually overreact to issues like this... Nation of Servants? can we really say that Tsao's comments are entirely false? Dili man sad diba? so dawaton nalang nato kay tinoud man sad.... Insulting paminawon pero mao man kamatouran... Kita gani, kusog man sad ta manawai sa ubang nasud/culture/race. One things for sure, we look upon being an OFW as something to be proud of, considering the sacrifices one makes for their families at home but sa ubang nasud, lahi ilang pagtanaw sa OFW labi na mga domestic helpers....

    Reality bites!

If you don't wanna be called a nation of servants then stop being a nation of servants. Unfortunately, the government's OFW propaganda makes it hard for us to remove the branding.

    Sakit jud ang kamatooran...

He personally apologized to the Filipino people when he went to the Consulate to say his public apology. Some are not contented, though. They say it is not enough.

He now got what he wanted, publicity or otherwise. He admitted he crossed the line with his choice of words. Now he has to take the consequences of being ridiculed by the people he has offended. After all, he has no right to offend our kababayans there.

Default The Filipinos Should NOT feel insulted by Chip Tsao

    My take on this issue:

It is really ironic that a number of Filipinos were offended by Chip Tsao’s article, particularly by the phrase “nation of servants” referring to the Philippines.

If Chip Tsao is racist and so are the majority of the Filipinos! Worse even.

They make fun of the househelps, labeling them “Dong” and “Inday?” Some of these cry babies even created parody website for “Inday.”

They even joked that the plaza is a place only for the “Dongs” and “Indays” and even cringe when they go to such place.

These double standard Pinoys were already insulting the servants before Chip Tsao did.

Racism and ethnical insult in Manila television and movie, even in born-again Christian churches has been going on unchecked.

    Wake up.
