Thanks for the tip sir! The lens works perfectly fine in my 450D. Could it be possible that what works for my unit may not work or malfunction in another unit? The idea of body-lens incompatibility crossed my mind, but all canon EF and EF-S lenses should work on all Canon EOS models right?

Any idea if Canon is open tomorrow?

I have to try it on another lens since I only have one lens and most of my friends who are also canon users have already gone on vacation. Guess I have to wait 'till Tuesday.

Taga talamban bro. Na try na nako ug ibot ang CF ug ang lens pero murag light ra kaayo tong pag erase nako sa kit lens bro kay mahadlok ko mosulod ang hugaw sa eraser sa lens. adto nalang jud mi sa Canon karon Tuesday.

Try using another cf card have tried it before using my old 1 g na cf card ni kaging jud ug kalit, then change it o my 2 g then na ok na, usually they say gubaon ang cf card and sometimes it destroys or short the pcb board.

So guys bantayan jud ang cf card buy branded, always take care of cf card ayaw hulog k ay kung ma short apil imong camera ka short,

anyway one year warranty mana ang imong new cam

Just an update mga bro...

Went to the Canon Service Center early this morning. One of their efficient staff immediately referred the camera's problem to one of the tech guys. They tried and conducted tests on the cam and it was their finding that the shutter of the camera is defective.

Lens problem and CF card defects may also cause Error 99 but in my case it was the shutter of the camera itself that was causing the error.

They made a report and recommended the replacement of the unit. But we have to wait until next week for the replacement because of the successive holidays.

Kudos to the efficient Staff of Canon Cebu!
