Ang naka-contribute jud ug maayo kay si Darius Songaila, quite surprisingly, during the last minutes.

    Pistons' Iverson Out For Season

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. -- Allen Iverson's season is over.

The Detroit Pistons said Friday the All-Star guard will miss the rest of the season because of a sore back.

Iverson missed 16 games from Feb. 27 to March 28. He returned for the past three games and averaged 7.7 points and 2.7 assists in nearly 19 minutes. He complained about his role as a reserve.

The Pistons began Friday as the seventh-seeded team in the Eastern Conference. They lead Chicago by a half game and Charlotte by two with less than two weeks left in the regular season.

Detroit plays Saturday in Philadelphia, where Iverson was an MVP. The 76ers traded him two years ago to Denver. The Nuggets then dealt him to the Pistons for Chauncey Billups in November.

HEAT SAW THREE PLAYERS INJURED IN 5-MINUTE SPAN

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP)—The Miami Heat saw three key players injured in a 5-minute span in the second half of Friday’s game against Charlotte.

First, forward Udonis Haslem cut his right thumb on the backboard while defending Gerald Wallace’s driving layup attempt in the final minute of the third quarter. He was taken to the locker room and did not return.

Early in the fourth quarter, forward Michael Beasley twisted his right ankle while backing up defending Boris Diaw. He was also taken to the locker room, but returned late in the fourth quarter.

Two minutes later, center Jermaine O’Neal also came up lame with an apparent ankle injury. He was taken to the locker room, but also returned to the game.

Earlier, the Bobcats lost starting shooting guard Raja Bell to a strained right calf.

Ten jerseys that should get their moments in the rafters
    By Fran Blinebury, NBA.com
    Posted Apr 3 2009 11:46AM

Alonzo Mourning, for so many years the rugged tough guy in the middle, had bet some of his relatives that he wouldn't cry when the Miami Heat retired his number. But on Monday night at American Airlines Arena, as the No. 33 rose to the rafters, the tears ran down his cheeks.

On Tuesday night in Sacramento, it was Vlade Divac's turn to get the royal treatment as the Kings gave his No. 21 a special place over the court at Arco Arena.

The Boston Celtics have retired 21 different jerseys. The Charlotte Bobcats, L.A. Clippers, Memphis Grizzlies and Toronto Raptors have none. The only jersey retired in Orlando is No. 6, in honor of the Magic fans.

It's past time for some other names and numbers to be fluttering in the indoor breeze. Here are our Top 10 candidates:

Gary Payton: Yes, there's the logistical problem of "The Glove" having played 13 years in Seattle and never pulling on a uniform in Oklahoma City. Payton himself has said he doesn't particularly want his number retired in OKC. But he's the leading scorer, the leading assist man and the top defender in the history of the Sonics/Thunder franchise. That jersey ought to be hanging high. Someplace.

Chris Mullin: For a Warriors franchise that has had Wilt Chamberlain, Rick Barry and Paul Arizin, it's no small achievement for Mullin to check in at No. 4 on the all-time scoring list. The stroke of No. 17 was pure and deadly, a thing of beauty to watch in all of those non-playoff seasons. One of the members of the original Dream Team, Mullin is overdue for recognition.

Bob McAdoo: It was long ago and far away, but you'd think a Clippers team that has had so little success in Los Angeles would take a page from their Staples Center roommate Lakers and honor the greatness of their past. McAdoo's No. 11 was the symbol of offensive prowess for five seasons with the Buffalo Braves, including three straight as the NBA's leading scorer.

Bernard King: The knock is going to be that King played on five different teams in a career that spanned 16 seasons. But because so many of his greatest achievements came on the grandest stage, at Madison Square Garden with the Knicks, his No. 30 should have already found the spotlights. King finished second to Larry Bird in the MVP voting in 1984 and he's the only Knicks player to win an NBA scoring title.

Dennis Rodman: Nobody is asking him to pass a Senate confirmation hearing for Secretary of State. But The Worm was the Secretary of Rebounding and Defense for Michael Jordan's Bulls. He went out of his way to always put on a sideshow, but No. 91 was a main-event performer and always played hard. The Bulls don't win their second "three-peat" without him.

Mark Aguirre: Maybe his often-sulking demeanor was what caused Aguirre's accomplishments to be overlooked or dismissed in Dallas. But in his eight seasons there, the Mavs rose from among the dregs to become a perennial playoff team. His No. 24 is third on the team's career scoring list. He scored 40 or more 22 times and Aguirre's 29.5 average in 1983-84 is the best single season in franchise history.

Marques Johnson: Junior Bridgeman, Sidney Moncrief and Bob Lanier all have been honored by the Bucks. But the player who four times had more points than anyone else on those star-crossed late-70s/early '80s teams that couldn't quite get over the Boston-Philly hump is conspicuously absent. He's the Bucks' sixth-leading all-time scorer and third on the career rebound list. No. 8 could turn the corner and finish with a flourish.

Andrew Toney: The core of the 76ers' championship team of 1983 --- Julius Erving, Moses Malone, Bobby Jones and Maurice Cheeks --- hangs from the rafters. But it was Toney, aka The Boston Strangler, who finally helped put them over the top. His injury-shortened career shouldn't diminish his cold-blooded effectiveness. No. 22 should join his teammates.

Allan Houston: Maybe the Knicks haven't saluted him yet because there always seems to be a rumor about a comeback. Or maybe it's because his game never gushed, instead flowing like a smooth-running river. Yes, H20. He shared the spotlight with Patrick Ewing, but his game never had to take a back seat. He's due for a curtain call.

Shaquille O'Neal: Sure, you usually wait until a player retires before you retire his number. But the way Shaq is still going strong at 37, who knows how many more years and how many more teams that will be? He'll likely wind up recognized in LA and Miami, too. But nobody else should swing from the roof in Orlando until the No. 32 of the big man who put the magic in the Magic takes his rightful place.
