CPU FRQUENCY amd & intel

ehem, here goes...

ive made a little research on these two cpus lately... and ive noticed that these two have entirely different "cpu frequency-to-cost" ratios... bali in short ang [amd athlon 64 3200, which is around 2.0ghz] kay mas expensive than an [intel p4 2.66] proc... unsa nyo ma-say guys? is there any thing that is giving amd an advantage thus, justifying the price gap?

cpu freq. counts later when it comes to cpu performance. search for cpu architecture design, google it or go to www.xbitlabs.com, there are lot of reviews there about intel and amd chips. hope this helps.

amd athlon 64 3200+ is meant to compete (more or less) with an intel 3.2ghz processor...

3000+ to a 3.0ghz and so on... that's amd's marketing strategy... amd's design architecture is not up to high clock speed but efficiency in every clock cycle...

now which is cheaper, an amd athlon 64 3200+ or an intel 3.2ghz procie? ang price gap dako kaayo...

sakto jud..... libog pud ko ana ilang Frequencies... like AXP 2400+ (2ghz) can beat up or compete with a true P4 (2.4ghz) 400mhz difference....

CPU frequency (GHz) is only one factor in a CPU's performance. There's also cache size, FSB, etc.

CPU Frequency should only be used to compare CPUs of the same architecture... i.e. P4 vs. P4, A64 vs. A64. Even then it's not that accurate because different models of P4 for example have varying cache and FSB. Some even have different pipeline setup altogether (i.e. Northwood vs. Prescott).

To compare CPUs, look for benchmarks or reviews. There are plenty on the web.

ok, ang nakamahal ani athlon 64 kay ang architecture nya 64bit whereas ang kini intel 2.66 kay 32 bit lang mas mahal mo produce ug 64bit nga processor

I think AMD's effieciency can be attributed to the number of process per cycle it can execute.
Which is way higher than Pentium procs.

Like Example per cpu cycle Athlon procs can perform upto 64 kbytes of data
while intel is only 8kbytes per processor cyle.

I think its evident if you compare both processors L1 cache. Athlon XPs have 64kbytes of L1 cache while Pentium 4s have only 8kbyte. So I think it could yield a strong ressemblance that AMD can perform higher number processes per cycle. murag approximately more than 8x higher process per cycle than Pentium 4s.

That's why Pentium 4 is always a big step behind Athlon Xps, even if they are equal PR ratings.
Also Athlons can support more cpu instructions features than Pentium 4.

Note this does not apply to newer AMD and PEntium procs cause I haven't got any info of from both. Kato mga P955 EE, and mga X2s cause they have new and totally different core designs.
