During the press conference for Angel Locsin by Facial Care Center at Ascott Makati in Glorietta 4, Ayala Center, Makati City, this afternoon, the actress said she'll be leaving tomorrow for Korea for the taping of Only You, her newest teleserye for ABS-CBN. "Aalis na po ako bukas. Magsisimula na po kami ng taping for Only You," announces Angel. Angel said she's excited to work again with Sam Milby who was her first Kapuso leading man in an episode of Maalaala Mo Kaya?. Angel remembers Sam as a very intense actor. "Sa Maging Sino, sa Dyosa... intense kasing umarte si Sam. Pero ito kasing gagawin namin, light, na akala ko nung una madali, pero mas mahirap pala." Since Angel and Sam are going to shoot the scenes for Only You in South Korea, where she will play the role of a Pinay chef in a Korean restaurant, is she also going to study the Korean language? "Parang ayoko rin...para sa akin isa sa pinakamahirap na lengguwahe talaga siya. Pero nag-aaral ako na magluto ng Korean..." Angel said Korean food for her is something new and different since she was used to ordering and eating Italian, Japanese, Filipino and Thai food. "Yung Korean food kasi masustansiya, puro gulay sila. "Hindi dahil magiging chef talaga ako. Actually, may parang pustahan kami ni Iya [Villania] na pag gusto na naming mag-asawa, mag-aaral kami sa culinary school. Para pag nagkaanak na kami at lulutuan na namin, hindi naman ibabato sa amin yung niluto namin." Since she mentioned "pag gusto na naming mag-asawa" and in connection with her desire to study culinary arts, did she mention about this bet with Iya to her boyfriend Luis Manzano? "Uhh...hindi pa," Angel then laughs and continued, "Hindi. Nasabi ko na yata...si Luis kasi HRM [Hotel and Restaurant Management grad], e. So sinabi ko sa kanya, 'Ako na lang ang magluluto. HRM ka, management, hindi ka naman talaga hands on...' [sabi niya] 'Hindi magluluto ako.' Pero up to now, hindi niya pa rin ako pinagluluto..." Angel related while laughing. PEP asked Angel about Luis's reaction to her Korean trip. Angel and Luis will be apart for weeks. "Siguro medyo nasasanay na siya. Kagabi nga nag-uusap kami. Sabi niya, 'O, iiwan mo na naman ako.' Sabi ko, 'Wala... work, e." So pagka gano'n, tumatahimik na siya. Dati medyo mas matagal yung kailangang lambingin. Pero ngayon siguro nasanay na siya or baka dahil aalis din siya for New York...so quits kami, hahaha..." Luis will be flying to New York for his movie with his mother Vilma Santos and co-Kanto Boys member John Lloyd Cruz for the Star Cinema project tentatively called A Mother's Story. MAALAALA MO KAYA. Recently, Angel was also involved in a controversy surrounding the Maalaala Mo Kaya episode where she essayed the role of a supposed UP summa cum laude-turned-strip dancer-turned-"taong grasa." Angel defended that MMK has no intention of offending the century old academic institution. "Ang alam ko kasi sa MMK, may waiver na pinapapirmahan sa letter sender kung totoo talaga [yung story]. Pero nung lumabas ang isyu na iyan na two decades na palang walang summa cum laude ang UP [College of Agriculture], tinanong ko sila [MMK staff] kung nag-apologize na sila. Ang sabi naman nila, 'Oo, nag-apologize na nga kami... "Pero para sa akin, ha, wala naman talagang intensiyon ang MMK na maka-offend kasi yun naman talaga ang kuwento ng letter sender at at meron naman talagang waiver. So yun yung pinalabas namin. Kasi ako, nag-research pa ako, nagpunta pa ako ng mental hospital para makita ko kung ano talaga ang situwasyon, para makita ko talaga kung ano yung acting ng baliw, ganyan... So wala naman talagang ganung instensyon. "Kung na-offend po namin talaga ang UP, sorry po. Nag-a-apologize po talaga kami sa kanila. Pero hindi po namin sinasadya. Gusto lang naming makagawa ng isang magandang istorya. Kasi may cause po naman yung ginawa naming project, e. Hindi lang basta drama. Tinulungan namin yung tao, and siguro para maging mas aware din ang mga tao kung bakit may mga kapatid tayong ganito at kung bakit kailangang hindi natin sila katakutan." WHY FACIAL CARE AND NOT BELO OR CALAYAN. As Facial Care Center's Laserlight service endorser, Angel said she's very impressed with the beauty center's Laserlight treatment. "Kasi painless siya talaga at after ng process, ang smooth talaga ng skin mo." Angel said getting rid of unwanted hairs on her legs and armpits used to be a painful experience for her. "Now, wala talaga. As in, nung sinubukan ko, sabi ko, 'Sige nga. Subukan ko.' Sandali lang, tapos na. Sabi ko, 'Ha, tapos na ba?' Impressed ako talaga."
