The solon said Nicole may have been pressured by interest groups who were courting her as part of their anti-US campaign. One of those groups is Gabriela.

Even if it were not genuine, Nicole's flight is an indication that she is no longer interested and serious with her case against Smith. There was indeed a mockery of the Philippine justice system. Nicole's mother has no right to say they got fed up with the system because they got a conviction for Smith. Who ridiculed the Filipinos now and our justice system?
