we don't need to wait for the end times to experience love ... the experience of God entails that we live in His "love" here and now... now, faith alone cannot save us ... because when we have love , we believe all the more ... when we have love, we hope all the more ... our faith and our hope make our experience of Love of God very much "here and now" ... after all, even before we have faith in God, He loves us already and revealed Himself to us ... in the mind of St. Paul, and we have to read his writings in this way, our Faith does not make us accept Christ rather we are "incorporated" to Christ, He accepts us! Faith, before it becomes an act of man ( the favorite phrase of our dear brothers and sisters not catholics is: Jesus, I accept you as my personal God and Savior), is a free gift of God to man. St. Augustine would say in his Treaties of Grace: before man can say "I believe in God", the grace of God is already working on him so that man can make the act of faith in God... st. Paul puts it: "it is the Spirit in us that make us cry to God, "abba, Father".

you're talking about ignoticism (someone who only believes in god if and only IF it is proven he exists), which is a completely different branch of belief from agnosticism (although for some reason it is considered a type of agnoticism).

these are relatively new concepts. ignoticsm existed because it was noted that agnostics do not fall in the category of atheists because we are not completely devoid of the belief of the existence of a higher being.

kung baga in my own summary of the issue i would say: "i believe that there is a god just not in the way religions define a god."
