    nope.. use Disk Management.

From there you can format, mount, fix, partition, convert, etc...

    this is sooo self explanatory...

The idea why dili kita ang XP sa imong new hard drive is that your hard drive only contains Unallocated Space and not formatted drives on certain File Systems. Drives with Unallocated Spaces or Drives with File Systems Windows cannot be read will not be displayed in My Computer.

So yeah, sakto tong gisulti ni vash. Right click sa unallocated space sa new harddrive nimo then a wizard will guide you there. Make sure ang filesystem kay NTFS

For me bro kay wala ma kita meaning wala cya ma recognize as new hardware installed so you need to reformat the new HDD to be formally recognize as new additional hardware. Dili jud na cya ma kita unsa imo buhaton unless you try my suggestion.

    Update lang mi k.

    I hope it helps.

the main reason why the remaining space or partition is not seen by the OS because it hasn't been initialized...

to answer your question: "Is there a need to format the drive"
    > Yes, especially if the drive is brand new, drives coming from their respective manufactures comes unformatted (high-level).....
    > even if you have attained a drive from a fellow, it would still be automatic in your mind to format it. ^_^
