RP Jr. NBA team formed

Three players from Cebu, two from Manila and one from Isabela bested 34 other campers in the Jr. NBA National Training Camp to emerge as members of the 2008-09 Jr. NBA Philippines Team -- showing off not just basketball talent and savvy but also the Jr. NBA S.T.A.R. values of Sportsmanship, Teamwork, (Positive) Attitude and Respect.
Carlo Escalambre, 14, from the Casa del Nino Montessori in Isabela; Michael Jay Javelosa, 13, of Ateneo de Manila Grade School; Mark Jayven Tallo, 14, from the Cebu Institute of Technology High School; Aldrin C. Fedigero from Pasay City South High School; Arc Gabrielle Araw-Araw, 13, and Adrian Marvin Muller, 13, from the Sacred Heart School-Jesuits in Cebu will be rewarded with a trip to New York and New Jersey in April to watch an NBA game live and play with their counterpart US Jr. NBA Team. Event presentor Hi-Smart will provide their newly launched Hi-Smart Multivitamins + Zinc and Taurine products to the Jr. NBA Philippines Team members for one year for free, and all other 34 campers for two months.
Three days of intensive boot camp training that also offered fun opportunities that made the young hopefuls love the game even more elicited the best in the participants aged 12-14.
Mark Jayven Tallo, son of former PBA Pepsi player Mark Anthony Tallo, emerged as the Hi-Smart MVP, shining with his overall performance, points scored in various stages of the camp and exemplary behavior all throughout the program. Other awardees are : Carlo Escalambre, Caltex Sportsmanship Award, Carlos Nicolo Mercado, BTV Rising Star Award, and Bradley Bacaltos, Gatorade High-Scorer Award.
