We have to remember that Philippines and most south east asian countries are meant to be land of the enterpreneurs .... to live a good life financial wise . Di ta magsilbi kung empleyado hantod sa hantod . Pangita mo ug empleyado na hayahay ang kinabuhi sa Cebu for the last 10 years .

Thats why it really is an option for FIlipinos to migrate where money is easily acquired thru hardwork and perseverance . kalami ra sa ipuyo sa Cebu ah kung naa lang mo hatag ug maayo na sweldo nako .... bisan mo match na lang sa cost of living ... or I just have a different lifestyle na mabag-uhan gyud ko ?

like the hobbits of the shire, i will venture far hoping to explore both the world i'm living in and why i'm living in this world. and like them, i'll return and share my good fortune.

Why not? This place stinks. No jobs, low pay, high taxes, a mafia style corrupt, lying and cheating government. Spare me.

Most of our places doesn't stink(Bantayan Island, moalboal, badian, camiguin, boracay, etc, etc.), only on urban areas and slum areas. So I can't take it as a factor since I don't want to live in an urban and slum area anyway.

No jobs? for the lazy, that's yes. So I can't take it as a factor since I am not that lazy.

low pay? well yeah that maybe true for the majority. But, most of the best in the world is free. So I can't take it as a factor also since I can still enjoy life with only a small amount of money in my pocket.

high taxes? Most countries have high taxes. So I can't take it as a factor.

Mafia style corrupt? Yes, there is corruption in deed, but even if there is no corruption, it won't mean that my personal problems will also perish. So I can't take it as a factor also.

And as for me, I might consider working abroad but not necessarily spend the rest of my life in there. I will spend it here as an entrepreneur hopefully(its true, walay nadato sa panarbaho).

Bisan kapila na tika nakabangga BCASABEE .... I have to agree with you 100 % on factors you just stated . What Mr TORCUATO MARCELO's factors are also present wherever you are abroad even in the land of milk and honey , it is just that Philippines has a different LIFESTYLE in LIVING . Of course lami kaau i puyo ug Pilipinas oi ilabi na sa Cebu .... where can you find such lifestyle na :

    - bisan UNEMPLOYED , locals still have time to drink ug istambay sa sari sari store care off " UTANG " , you cant do that here in the US !

    - bisan UNEMPLOYED , locals still have the means and resources to eat and celebrate holidays mapa POBRE or DINATU na style , you cant do that here in US !

    - bisan UNEMPLOYED , locals still have all day to gather friends and get together at least once a week celebrating for nothing , you cant do that here in US !

So imagine if you are EMPLOYED , mas samot ka naay RESOURCES to make the those 3 scenarios I mentioned almost everyday ! But we have to consider also that nobody wants to do that for the rest of their lives unless you have financial freedom so that is the very core why people migrate somewhere else so when they retire , pa banjing banjing na lang sa Cebu .

Financial Freedom. That's what I like also. And Yup as what I've said earlier, I might consider working abroad and come back pa banjing banjing nalang sa Cebu.
