there's a lot of factor.
1. your mic might not be plugged in
2. your mic might be plugged in to the wrong plug
3. your mic might not be powered on, as most mics are embedded on a web cam which require power
4. some mics that are embedded on a web cam require to be installed first before you can use it
5. (The Worst possible problem) Your ISP might have disabled VOIP

It means that there is an Internet connection. Mao rana ka tambag nimu nga call ISP. Hehehe. So kung tanan maka problema ani advice lang ng advice call ISP. Wahehehe.

im not on l1technician's side, but he makes sense.. you don't call the isp immediately when your problem is like the one mentioned by the TS, smart and yahoo are two different things..
nakasuway nako ana nga prob and i resolved it without calling pldt..

i think and remedy sa inyung gilalisan kay try ninyu Download ang new Version sa Ym...If dili gyud mogana try to check ur INTERNET CONNECTION,if dli ghapon check ang inyung mic......
