Someone told me Rustan is using Linux for their POS, is it correct? It makes sense since it's QT programming so it's multi-platform.

Try using Powerbuilder 10.....
nindot sad xa.... pang client-server jud..
then user friendly pajud....

in our company i handled POS...Powerbuilder xa. then Sybase among DB.....
though dli xa free but nice jud au imong output..

Yep correct ka bai. But there are many types of installations.
1) local / standalone (too risky in security)
2) with server (2 tier / 3 tier environment) (this is recommended).

TO DO POS:

1) System study - flow / process
2) Hardware specification requirements - computers / bar code scanner / debit & credit card (swiping machine )
3) The best player is what language that your are using - vb6 or whatever (kanang dili mag kanga-kanga if daghan ang mga orders nga e load.)

ako naka buhat nako anang POS bro, ug gi gamit sa ako 1 client sofar stable gyud kaau pwera buyag for 2 years na walay problem.
