Clarification. I don't have the other parts yet, but yes, it will be easier to acquire the other parts once the two mirrors (primary and secondary) are available. And yes, they can be acquired via eBay, I just don't have a means to buy it at the moment, but I will soon.
For an earlier scope we made, the mount was an EQ we designed. But for a future Dob, I'll settle for a simple ALT-AZ setup.
Those mirrors are probably spherical, not parabolic, and thus not suitable for telescope use.

Sorry for the confusion, I should have quoted the post, but I was referring to @gamhanan's post mentioning that he already had other parts except the main mirror.Originally Posted by rodsky
Anyway, about the mirror, I think you're right about it being spherical because it tends to distort the reflection as you go away from the center. Thanks for your reply, I guess ebay is still the way to go for the moment -- I was hoping to get the stuff locally.
saw some old telescopes in talamban. for sale surplus from japan. you might want to check them out.. tintay area.
i guess it would be better to just buy the surplus telescopes or buy the new ones from china which are being sold at a low price
lol... heheheh.... transit/theodolite telescope raman ganeh ako dri... ^^
ala 'walk to remember' ani na trip mga bro...
interesting ani mga bro...asa man ta makakita sa diagram ani na pwede natu sundon?
ok kaau tama brod...
i was about to start make 6" to 8" dobsonian reflector, i found that i still need to buy eyepieces and Barlow lenses from US. heck, it's economical and safer just to buy a dobsonian first (shipped all in one) then build-my-own-upgrade version later.
if you're serious about astronomy, id suggest buying a star map or book and start looking up and identify the constelations. I could see orion's nebula with a naked eye at night. it's like a tiny gray cloud.
im still waiting for Philippine distributor for reflector telescopes. the only one i could find is hahn.
