Celtics need a big man, offer Mikki Moore a contract
The Boston Celtics are looking for a big body and they are hoping to be the winner in the Mikki Moore sweepstakes, according to the Boston Globe.
Moore's agent, Mark Bartelstein, said the Celtics and several other NBA teams had offered the center a contract. Bartelstein wouldn't name the other teams, however.
Moore is expected to make his decision Monday after clearing waivers and becoming an unrestricted free agent. If Moore, 33, selects the Celtics, they would sign him for the rest of the season. The 7-foot, 225-pounder was waived by Sacramento Feb. 19. He averaged 3.5 points and 3 rebounds in 16.2 minutes per game in 46 games with the Kings. Moore played in three games for the Celtics while on a 10-day contract in the 2002-03 season.
If Moore opts to go elsewhere, the Celtics would be interested in Oklahoma City center/forward Joe Smith if he is bought out of his contract. Smith is the more talented player, but there is a question whether he will be bought out or whether he even wants to be.

Marbury and the Knicks apparently have agreed to a buyout and the Celtics are hot in pursuit on him. I guess the Celts are out to buy another championship again.
