The GTX285 inst technically a "lower" card since it is better than the GTX295 GPU wise with 1GB Memory,512bit memory bus and faster clocks. The GTX295 will be faster if it runs in quad SLI though.
@earlz: Let me elaborate further what I meant:
In terms of SLI, because I was talking about SLI MODE, it's funny that I have the 285's on SLI instead of the 295. and I am using the way more expensive, newer card just for physx.
But of course we will also be running individual single card tests. But the triple card setup will be what the rigs will sport during the tour.
I was also talking about the GTX285 in sli, its better than the GTX295.
edit:
The GTX295 is already running in SLI internally, the GTX295 is basically 2x GTX260's w/ 240SP running in SLI.
I dont see anything funny / wrong in that setup, since the GTX285's are faster.
No, your using a cheaper and older card, the GTX285 is 19k each making it 38k for SLI, the GTX295 is only under 25k. Technically the GTX295 is the older card since it came out first before the GTX285.
Just wanted you to have the correct information, since this is for a road show anyway.

all these expensive hardware floating around, laway lang ta..... I'm sure for the average gamer/user, these rigs will be more than adequate - how much faster, better, they really are is up to the user to decide.
muzikfreakah, like what you are doing. keep it up and keep us all posted on developments. Goodluck!!!
centax error, nindota sa imong newly acquired stuff. Huwat nalang mi Nestle unsay i-raffle nimo namo. Sugot ra mi bisag unsa. happy trip, and see you soon.
Still waiting for 4870 crossfire + i7 Crysis benchmarks. (maybe I should create a new thread for this one)
Btwait is the crossfired EAH 4870 1gb or 512mb?
@Earlz: this is what I am planning to make since the mobo mounting panel on my case already has a cut out to expose back of the mobo where the procie is installed. I am going to use a long allen bolt so that it extends pass the mobo mounting panel, then I can have a custom made 6mm plexi glass to secure the allen bolts. I will also expirement on using nylon and lock washers. Here's a sketch of my plan
@kenshiro: if you mean the 4870X2 then it is 2 x 1Gb not 512 mb.
@ glide 1: hehe kuyawan man ko anang raffles
I would still opt for two 295s over two 285s. And the reason why its funny for me is that, im using two 285s and the extra 295 for physx only which is also a high end card.
And my point about the pricing is 1 GTX285 vs 1 GTX295, and 2 GTX295s would be higher than 2 GTX285s.
Here let me throw this question at you:
Which would you opt for if you were to be given a setup for free today (Feb 15 09):
2x295s and 1 285
OR
2x285s and 1 295?
Unfortunately, they only sent us 512mb versions. I already ran some 3dmark tests yesterday but will release then when I am done testing everything
Btw we are already getting off topic here, so lets stick to the thread title. If you want to continue this discussion with me earlz, post it on the fineupgrades thread.
BACK TOP TOPIC GUYS OK? New hardware pics please!![]()

here's some benchies from bit-tech on the 280 SLI, 285, 295 ufortunately no 4870 x2 tested
bit-tech.net | Review - Nvidia (Zotac) GeForce GTX 285 1GB
@Earlz is my assumption correct below?
295 is faster than 285
285 SLI is faster than 295
295 SLI is faster than 285 SLI
285x2 SLI(if it will be made) is faster than 295 SLI
Read what you said earlier ( and just now ), SLI GTX285 and GTX295 for Physics. Its safe to assume that the cards talked about is 2pcs of GTX285 and *Single (1pc)* of GTX295.
Anyone would opt for a 2x GTX295, but back to your own post theres only one available.
Again, read what you posted you said GTX285's in SLI. nothing about GTX295's in QUAD-SLI.
The GTX285 in SLI is more expensive than a GTX295.
I would opt for 3x GTX295's quad sli + PhysX support, my standards are high though
512MB version of ??
There isnt anything to discuss further you got confused by your own statements, sorry that i tried to give a more informative view on the matter, but if you wish you can create another threat just under the regular forum sub-pages and we shall discuss this matter, I always keep an open mind.
