    Sorry not enough: Kim’s ma

source: Sorry not enough: Kim?s ma | Sun.Star Network Online

THE fact-finding panel tasked to look into the Miss Cebu 2009 controversy recommended that television broadcast production manager Bruce Bollozos apologize again, if he has not formally done so, to second runner-up Kimberley Therese Burden.
Bollozos said he did, which was published on Jan. 16, or two days after the coronation night, and will do so again.
This early, however, Dr. Rowena Burden, Kimberley’s mother, said an apology is “not enough.”
    Valentine's 2009 blog
“An apology from Mr. Bollozos is not enough. Somebody has to be punished for what happened to Kim,” she told Sun.Star Cebu yesterday afternoon.
The Burdens have called a press conference in their home in Sunset Drive, Barangay Lahug today to release their formal statement on the matter.
The family earlier said it may pursue legal action.
Dr. Burden said they “will be discussing” the matter, when asked if filing a criminal complaint is one of their options.
Bollozos, on the other hand, told Sun.Star Cebu in a text message that he will issue a full statement after going over the findings of the panel.
He said he was about to consult his lawyer last night.
The whole issue started during the Jan. 14 coronation night when candidate Kris Tiffany Janson was announced as the winner of the Globe Texters’ Choice Award when it was Kimberley who garnered the highest votes.
There was an attempt at correcting the mistake by an announcement that there was another winner due to last-minute votes and Kimberley’s name was called.
But nothing was handed to Kimberley that night as a result of her being “another winner,” which Dr. Burden said aggravated the hurt her daughter felt.
Last Monday, the panel, composed of City Councilor Gerardo Carillo, Atty. Jose Mari Poblete, and retired colonel Orlando Secretario, faulted Bollozos, Cebu City Tourism Commission (CCTC) marketing consultant; and the CCTC for the whole fiasco.
Speaking for the commission, Acting Vice Mayor Hilario Davide III apologized to Kimberley and her family in front of City Hall reporters.
He reiterated that Kimberley was the “real and only winner of the Miss Cebu Globe Texters’ Choice Award, and (the commission) sincerely apologizes to her, her family, friends and supporters for the irresponsible mistake.”
“(They) have every right to be upset with the way this was handled, and the commission members completely understand their feelings and genuinely commiserate with them, especially Kim, who certainly did not deserve any of this,” he said.
Through Davide, the commission demanded for Bollozos to issue a public apology, “if he has not done so yet,” and requested Globe Telecom to “explain to the commission why no system was put in place to ensure the integrity of the contest.”
The commission also decided to “exclude the texter’s choice event, or any special or side event for that matter, during the coronation night in future Miss Cebu contests.” (RHM)

naunsa na man tawn ning mga burden oi? burden man jud nila ang nahitabo. this issue has already blown out of proportion. imbes naa na unta nila ang sympathy sa mga tawo nahimo na nuon silang kataw-anan & looked like sore losers. hasta ang samsung omnia kay gusto jud kuhaon. di daw sila sa nokia kay karaan. aw hinuon, they have the right to claim what is due for their daughter pero di na tingali kinahanglang ipa-media ug magpatawag ug press con.

hala, pagkinihaay mo. di pud ra ba ni basta-basta ang family aning bruce bollozos. hutda na inyong mga kuwarta sa gamay ra kaayo nga hinungdan. pareho bitaw mong mga dato. hahaha.
