    Default Another video card dilemma

Guyz, i need opinion as Im thinking upgrading to a 6600GT

    1. My pc is a 5-year old, P4 1.5, 4xAGP, 300W PSU, 384mb rdram, 32mb geforce2 ... Will the 6600GT run good on this? Or I better buy a lower end card like a 6200A & wait for more money to buy a more powerful CPU with PCI-E support...

    2. Just buy the 6600GT, attach to the 4x AGP and enjoy the games for the time being. When CPU/mobo upgrade is feasible, I wont just get the PCI-E one...

I only enjoy strategy games like civ4 and AOE 3... I have no idea if a 6200A card would be enough for simple strategy games...

    thanks for any input

Like the other guy said, save your money lang sa 'til you have enough for a new CPU, mobo, RAM, video card, PSU. Sayang lang palit ka new card now since you won't be utilizing its full potential and problems could occur esp. with your current aging mobo.

Though on paper.. an 8x AGP card should work on a 4x slot, I have seen people having issues mixing the two. Besides, your current 300W PSU may not provide enuf juice to the 6600GT. I recomment at least a 350W.

Also, AGP will be phased out soon. Go PCI-E on your next mobo upgrade.

^^bos go for the 6600GT..most 8x card are backward compatible with older 4x..and also the first thing you should consider is wether or not your system complies with the minimum requirements of most games available today..i think pasuk pa kaayo imo rig for NBA Live 2006 and NFS Most Wanted..

and most of all avoid 6200..6600GT is the kick-ass mainstream video card..google for reviews

In your case you must Upgrade these together:

    1. first of all Your MOBO
    2. Processor
    3. Memory
    4. and VC.

If you buy 6600GT with those specs I think the P4 1.5Ghz and the lack of memory
and the MOBO will greatly bottleneck the performance of the 6600GT.
You can buy a 6600GT for your current system you'll just notice a very minute improvement about 10%.
But still you can save your 6600GT if you plan for a whole system upgrade.

If you stick with your specs
Suggest nako sa imo system a moderate upgrade on the VC, like Radeon 9250 series.

sa imong PC specs pre mura dili na makaya sa Video card ..... palit ug mas HIGH-END kung gusto ka nindto, pero kung consumer wise ka .... save lang sa money then evrything will just flow.....

you will get minimal performance gain with the new videocard, worse yet dli na compatible sa imong AGP since the old agp slots only give 1.3v while the standard in AGP 3.0 is 1.5v
